Pharoan Statue At Sunset
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
I am writing this on Saturday night as there is the real possibility I will have to work tomorrow (Sunday) from 8 AM - 4 PM as the pinch hitter for the team. I could use the hours so I don't mind but I will have to miss services at Open Door. I have come to enjoy very much the time I have spent among those whom I have met there. It has been a very busy day for me, it being Payday and all. I got up early then took off to cash my check and go grocery shopping. I got all that accomplished in two hours, almost. I was closing in on two hours when I called for a taxi from the grocery store. Half an hour later I was still waiting but the gods of transportation showed mercy upon me in the form of this retired gentleman who asked if I was waiting on a taxi and if so where was I headed. I kindly told them man all of 4 blocks to the hotel and the cab is usually 5 or 6 bucks. He helped me load up my stuff and drove me to my door. I of course paid him same as I would a cabbie, to not would be cheap on my part and totally ungrateful. It was just another one of those random acts of kindness that improves your day. I got home got ready for work and clocked in around two. It was slow the first couple of hours so they sent the day girl home and delayed MM's arrival until six. Like most labor intensive industries, a good manager in the hotel business must economize when they can and labor is the biggest drain so it comes down first. Totally understandable from the management point of view. Generally what happens is the same everywhere, you send people home and then you get busy, which is of course exactly what happened. I took it all in stride but fell behind in the paper portion until MM got there and I could catch up. By the time she got there there were only 4 reservations left on the list as I had checked most of them in. We did have a small bit of drama in the afternoon as no one could find the key to the pool area and we had some guests who were more than a little upset until SGB cut the lock and let everyone in. Again no biggie just adds to the excitement of the day. I am getting much faster at the computer as I gain familiarity with the system. The way this system is design works wonderfully well. By coordinating the information in the computer with the room boards so that both are accurate status wise any knowledgeable staff member can see at a glance the state of the hotel at any one time. We back this up with a paper trail and an audit process that keeps the paperwork gods appeased enough to render us all financially stable twice a month. This is in addition to providing a mighty fine living space por nada. It cost a lot to run a hotel but they are cash cows in busy locations like ours. It is not that complex a business yet it has many components that must work in concert for the most harmonious product to be presented to the end user, our guests. For example today we not only had the ball teams in town, but also a blues festival on the North Shore River Walk. In addition Classics had the Thunder Roads Harley Riders in for some special event. These guys don't just ride your run of the mill Sportsters but really fancy really expensive bikes. From the front desk it looks like about a million dollars in chrome, leather and metal flake paint. This is in addition to our regular Rider Appreciation Night the second Wednesday of every month. Drunken Karaoke, Bikers and their Babes, what more could you ask for on a Wednesday night? For all that I may find myself behind the desk instead of at services but one thing is for sure there will be no dull moments either place.
I do have some video for you today, there was finally some NUKE action on Friday so we have that. Then Dave Wavey says "I think we should all be naked". Rounding out the video selections for today is the most recent episode of Holly Oaks. I may post something later if I do not have to work. If not then I will catch you guys here on Monday. For now I will leave you with today's eye candy selections. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
