Happy Thanksgiving!

As we enter the Holiday Season, let us stop for a moment to truly give thanks for the Blessings of this past year. As GLBT people we should be thankful that The Matthew Shepard Act passed both houses of Congress and ENDA passing in the House of Representatives. I would have been more grateful if the security of our Transgendered brothers and sisters had been included, which will happen as long as we continue our efforts toward that end. We should also be thankful for our progress in educating the general populace which has helped them conquer their fears and prejudices. We should be thankful that attitudes in the military are changing so that one day soon, Don't Ask, Don't Tell will die an inglorious death and all Americans with a desire to do so may serve their country with pride and without fear. We should be grateful that there are still those who are willing to serve in the Armed Forces no matter how much the current administration has disrespected them, failed them, and sent them to die in a senseless war. They should be remembered in our daily prayers for their selfless sacrifices. We should be grateful George W. Bush can't be reelected and that the end of his tenure is drawing closer by the hour. And finally we should be grateful that there is still an America in which to live and enjoy our freedoms (limited though they may be). However imperfect we may be, we still have the ability to make it better and we will.

A traditional part of Thanksgiving for many years has been NFL football and this year is no different. In the early game, supremacy in the NFC North will be determined in Detroit where the Lions (6-4) will make their bid for a playoff spot more viable against the Green Bay Packers (9-1). The Lions by pulling the upset would definitely be doing a favor for the Dallas Cowboys (9-1), who have a chance to make team history by beating the New York Jets (2-8) to go 10-1 for the first time ever in the afternoon game. This year there is also a prime time game featuring the 8-2 Indianapolis Colts and the 3-7 Atlanta Falcons. I know Ryan would be ecstatic if Atlanta would actually beat the Colts but I don't foresee Peyton Manning letting that happen (sorry, Ryan). I predict the winners to be the Packers, Colts, and of course the Cowboys setting up a match between the two 10-1 NFC teams next Thursday night in prime time.

So that just about covers Thanksgiving, may your holiday be Blessed and Safe. I will leave you with a short video of Thanksgiving at the Snyder farm with Noah and Luke and a little something I got in my email today. Until next time as always, Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!
