Ryan, Yuri, Betty and I Can Only Imagine

Today has been long hard and interesting. I had the chance first thing this morning to catch up with Ryan over at Boys Are Ugly and he was just full of good news. You all remember that Mike was injured in an ATV accident earlier this summer and has been going through Rehab for his injuries. It turns out that he has returned to work, albeit in the office so he can stay off his feet whilst he recovers 100%, at the job that he was so excited about before he got injured. This is exciting in a couple of ways in that Ryan and Mike have made their move to Florida as they were planning before the accident and into their own home down there. I am so excited for them as they start their independent life at the beach. They have decided to start blogging again with the target date of September 11 so watch for new posts from them coming soon. Also in the grand tradition of those of us with love and more to spare, they have welcomed a new member into their family from the ranks of those rejected by their parents for being gay. I would like to say "Hello and welcome to the family" to Corey. He has a couple of posts over at Boys Are Ugly already. Today's was especially poignant as it was a letter they received from a young man by the name of Nick. Nick has a compelling story to tell about his life, how he almost ended it, and how he came to realize that living was the better alternative. You can read his moving tale here. Ryan has also promised me he would have a post for you guys here at Nichevo soon. I am always so uplifted after chatting with Ryan, I miss it when we get caught up in the busyness of our lives and do not have the opportunity to chat on a regular basis.

The middle of my day was spent working on templates and finalizing things for the big software installion this afternoon. I have put a lot of hours into this project and will be deep off into it for the next two weeks learning the new software and teaching it to my coworkers. As I am the systems administrator, I have to know it better than anyone so I can teach it, prevent problems from cropping up and solving the ones that surface. This is in addition to the hats that I wear as General Manager/Sales Manager/This, that and the other thing. It is pretty exciting creating something out of nothing with disparate parts gathered together from here, there and yonder.

Then it was time for the installation to begin. The installation geek from the software company was named Yuri. You have to know that Yuri is in Florida and I, of course am in Texas, so the all the installation work is accomplished remotely by telephone and the Internet. Yuri got kinda uppity with me because I don't have the latest and greatest zippy wow computer hardware. I personally think I have come a long way hardware wise from where I was to where I am now, but not having the deep pockets of corporate America at my disposal, I do what I can with what I've got. He kept complaining about the slowness of my connection. I transmit and receive at 115 kps and I have a 900 mhz processor with 3/4 gig of sdram. Forgive me for not having a 1.5 gig mhz p4 with a gig of ram attached to a T1. Jeez, I am really proud of the improvements I have made in my system and here he goes treating me like a red headed bastard stepchild begging crumbs from his table. And this after my partner invested $8K over the next 4 years for software and support. Can you tell he pissed me off? Anyway, we did not get finished today so we get to pick it up tomorrow morning where we left off. Should be interesting. I will let you know how it goes.

You guys remember me mentioning Luke and Noah were going to have their first kiss on ATWT on Monday, well today I have the video in case you missed it, your VCR or Tivo messed up and did not record it, or if you just want to see it again.

I also have the new promo for Ugly Betty followed by the behind the scenes of making the promo. I was late in coming to appreciate how marvelous a program this is. I was somewhat put off by the name. There is enough ugliness in the world with out watching it on TV. About halfway through the season, I caught an episode. I was immediately hooked by the beauty that shines from with in Betty as played by America Ferrara. I have since watched all the reruns and am totally caught up with the show. I can hardly wait for season two coming in September.

One of the blogs I read on a daily basis is The Way I See It written by Kendall who lives in South Florida. (What is it with all these men from Florida that are suddenly affecting my life?) Kendall started a feature on his blog recently that he calls Inspiration where he posts inspirational quotes or videos. Most of the time I am inspired by them, some days more than others. Todays video is by Wynona Judd who does a cover version of a song that came out a couple of years ago when I was living in a Men's home getting over an addiction relapse. The original was by a Christian pop group named Mercy Me and is inspiring in it's own right, but Wynona tells a little bit of her story and then sings this song. I was inspired by this song back then and I was inspired today. For as much as I rail about the religious bigotry running rampant in this country, I still believe in the Creator, I just have a problem with how true faith has been hijacked by hypocrites, Pharisees and greedy bastards. I think you too will be inspired by this video. Thank you, Kendall, for posting this little bit of inspiration for all of us.

I am at the end of my rant for now. It is surprising how cathartic putting your thoughts down in black and white can be, especially when you are tired, pissed off or whatever. Thanks for listening today, I feel so much better just having put it out there instead of just bottling it up inside or running to the dope man or the nearest bar for temporary (very temporary) relief. So I will close out with some beauty to brighten all our lives. Until next time as always, Enjoy!

I am happy you found the inspiration, I think we all need some each day with the world we are living in.

The original version (which I linked the day before) is what first got me and I didn't hear Wynonna's version until about 2 months ago and I really liked it a lot!

Hope all is well!
