A wreath was laid at noon yesterday in Philadelphia across from Independence Hall at the marker for the first Gay Rights Demonstrations in the mid-sixties in memory of Gay Rights Pioneer Barbara Gittings. Barbara Gittings died Sunday after a 7 year battle with breast cancer,
she was 75 and is survived by her partner of 46 years Kay Tobin Lahusen. Barbara Gittings is considered the Mother of the Gay Rights Movement as she was the founder of the first Lesbian organization the Daughters of Bilitis in 1958. She took part in the first Gay picket lines at the White House and joined other activist in pioneering the annual July 4th Demonstration for Gay and Lesbian Rights from 1965-1969. These Demonstrations provided the impetus for the Stonewall Riots in 1969 and the first Gay Pride Parade in New York in 1970. Barbara Gittings was also instrumental in getting homosexuality removed from the APA list of mental disorders. She crusaded tirelessly to make Gay and Lesbian literature available at libraries and was awarded lifetime membership to the American Library Association. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, and those who will carry out her work in her memory. You can view a video and read her profile from GLBT History Month here.

Lest we be remiss in wishing you a Happy Chinese New Year here is wishing you the best in the coming year of the Pig. We are in the middle of a 15 day celebration of holiday that began Sunday. In China, and in cities all across America and the world all aspects of Asian Culture is celebrated by Asians and many non Asians people as well. In that vein, I will feature a little more Asian spice in eye candy section of this post.
I am sorry that I have missed posting the last two days but time has just gotten away from me. I will try to make it up to you with a little extra oomph in the eye candy so you will not feel that I am neglecting those of you who have an appreciation of the photography found here at Nichevo. I have been kinda busy getting this and doing that, I did not even get to watch Heroes until yesterday on the internet. I avoided anyone who was talking about it so I would not have the suspense spoiled before I saw it unfold. I must say I expected Peter to fly but I never expected Simone to die much less be killed by Isaac during a fight with Peter. Guess that's why we watch the show so we can find out what happens. Heroes is one of two shows that I watch on TVey, the other one is Numbers on Friday Nights. Occasional views go to Criminal Minds and Friday Night Lites, but I don't watch much TV now that football season is over. That's OK though as the internet is so much more entertaining, interesting and informative, I don't miss the tube at all. I also read a lot of books while using the transportation system and on weekends. Not to mention all the blogs I try to keep up with. Speaking of which Ryan if Boys Are Ugly But So Cute has a really great post you can read here. Ryan got his rant on today and I totally agree with his point of view. There is also a great post by Kendall over at The Way I See It that you can read here. There is ever so much more out there that I have run across but don't have time to tell you about tonight. So as it is fast approaching Bedtime For Bonzo (yours truly) I will close out with some the traditional bit of eye candy for your view pleasure. Keep coming back, I am still alive and writing, just sometimes it takes me a while to catch up. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
