Working for the Weekend

Well... I have managed to make it to Friday without collapsing from sheer exhaustion, so it must all be good.  With Thursdays now being useless for anything other than work and sleep, Friday has become my go to day for chores and errands followed by a long 9 hour shift on truck night.  This is followed by another shift tomorrow from 5-11 before finally getting a day off on Sunday, my 1 day Weekend for which I am working so desperately.  Because of the intensity of my schedule now, I have been toying with an idea which will probably come to fruition this Weekend.  Instead of madly trying to squeeze in a post between shifts on Saturday, I thought that I would follow the example the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with a Sunday Morning Concert series.  So  I think that will begin this Sunday and make my 'Fraturday' much easier to handle while still giving you fabulous live performances & an edition of Naked or Nearly So over the Weekend.

All that aside, what have we got going for today which a lot of folks here in the US had off because the National Holiday for Independence Day falls on Saturday (tomorrow) this year.  I am sure most everyone hereabouts is already in the party mode, yet I have to work tonight from 5-2 so my party will just have to wait.  However I thought some good party background music would be appropriate for today, which left me in the quandry between Classical and Patriotic.  I went with the Classical and the party instrument of its day, the Clavicembalo or Harpsichord.  Mozart was a party animal and a Master at making the Harpsichord sing.  He was not however, the only composer to come to the party with a score in hand.  Pietro Domenico Paradies (modern adaptation Paradisi) composed 12 Sonates di Clavicembalo which are enjoying a revival today.  Influenced greatly by the Father/Son duo of Allessandro and Domenico Scarlatti, Paradies wrote highly likeable tunes that were immensely popular in their day for their dancibility and these sonates are still as lively and danceable today.  Ottavio Dantone recorded the 12 Sonates on a 2 CD set in 1996 and the play list for today is comprised of the first 6 of these Sonates from Disc 1.  Includes are the Sonates Numbers 1 in G Major; 2 in B Major; 3 in E Major; 4 in C Major; 5 in F Major and 6 in A Major.  The toccata from Number 6 is Paradies' most popular work heard in performance halls today.

I took a different turn over on my tumblr, with lots of Beachin' expected over the Holiday Weekend, I posted some Music for Reading on the Beach that is peaceful and relaxing enough to keep the hassles away for the Weekend.  Take a book and your smart phone to the beach and enjoy!  While over on my tumblr, you may want to check out the Hottie of the Day! who has a "Long Train Runnin'..." just for you.  Before you head out to my tumblr, be sure to check out the abundance of Fantasy Fuel adorning the page down below.  Thanks for the visit, see you for the Sunday Morning Concert.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
