Sunday Morning Concert

I was in a quandary this morning regarding the selection for your Sunday Morning Concert.  I was having no luck finding something I liked by composer, so I decided to look for  a couple of fabulous live performances by one of the world's great orchestras.  Of course the first name to come to my mind when it comes to the world's great orchestras is the Vienna Philharmonic, the Grandfather of all Great Symphony Orchestras.  I found a bountiful supply of live performances, so once again I had to select a composer so I defaulted to my favorite composers list.  The first matches that came up were a couple of great performances by the VPO under the baton of Christian Thielemann at the Konzerthaus in Vienna of Music by Beethoven.

Again I went with my favorites list, this time of favorite works by Beethoven and I thought what better way to be inspired on a Sunday morning than by two Ludwig's finest works.   Posted down below is Symphony Number 9 in D Minor, Opus 125 "Chorale".  The Vienna Philharmonic is joined by the Vienna Singverein and Soloists Annette Dasch, Soprano; Mihoko Fujimura, Contralto; Piotr Beczala, Tenor and Georg Zeppenfeld, Bass.

Over on my tumblr you may join Christian and the VPO for their performance of my other favorite symphony by Beethoven, Symphony Number 5 in C Minor, Opus 67 once again live from the Konzerthaus.
