Same Sex Couples and LGBT Activists in Texas were cautiously celebrating over the weekend when two bills died in the Legislature without coming up for a vote. The first bill would have denied funding to any agency or official who willingly complied with any Pro Marriage Equality ruling from the Supreme Court. The second bill would allow any public official that is also a member of the clergy of a religion that disavows Marriage Equality to use their religious dogma to supplant official policy in the carrying out of their duties. Basically this bill was a Trojan Horse that would leave the door open to discrimination by officials in circumvention of their sworn duties to uphold the law. These bills died, but the bill's sponsors have vowed to find a way to attach them to current legislation as amendments, once again trying to circumvent the system conservatives give lip service to revering.
Speaking of conservatives and lip service, Governor Fuckhead's Attorney General Ken 'Lapdog' Paxton has refused to indicate if he will comply with any Pro Marriage Equality ruling from the Supreme Court. Even when asked directly, Lapdog dodged the question, which is an answer in itself. Fuckhead and Lapdog will do everything possible to undermine, mitigate, circumvent or otherwise mutilate and discombobulate any Law or ruling on any Law that would give LGBT citizens their Equal Rights under the Law. Now I grant you, politics in Texas have always been somewhat on the bizarre side, but these politicians have another think coming if they think they can circumvent a Federally Mandated Law with a State Regulation. It has been tried before and Federal Law has Trumped State Law every time. The process has not always been 'pretty', but it does work and eventually even the most recalcitrant of opponents have given up, been defeated in an election or died off and right prevailed in the end. These guys just like to muddy the waters because they can. I will be so glad when the people of this state wake the fuck up and realize that the tea party crazies that run the place should be the ones locked in the looney bin not the rest of us. That includes our freshman Senator and resident fanatical religious son of nut job preacher, Ted Cruz, especially him. God let's hope he does not breed another one like himself.... Sometimes I wonder why I even stay here anymore....
