Welcome to the Weekend and your Saturday Evening Concert. It has been a great week as we have examined the Giants of the Guitar. We wrap up this week's focus on The Performers with another great concert before next week's look at The Composers who wrote so much grand and glorious music for the Guitar. But that's next week, for tonight, I have another intimate recital for you featuring both Julian Bream and John Williams recorded live in the Chapel at Old Wardour Castle in Wiltshire, England.
Over on my tumblr, I have chosen to feature Pepe Romero in concert whom I have not had the opportunity to profile this week. Pepe Romero is the son of Caledonio Romero, guitarist, Composer and founder of the Los Romeros Quartet. Pepe has been a member of Los Romeros since 196o and is a world-renowned classical and flamenco guitarist. He is particularly famous for his outstanding technique and colorful musical interpretations on the instrument. Tonight's performance in from the 2011 Guitar Arts Festival in Belgrade, Serbia. Romero appears in concert with Camerata Serbica under the baton of Marcelo Rota. His play list includes Rodrigo's Conceirto de Aranjuez and Tarrega's Recuerdos de la Alhambra.
