Welcome to the Weekend and your Saturday Evening Concert. I have a couple of terrific live performances lined up for here and my tumblr tonight. One of the premier concert venues in the world is the Philharmonie in Berlin. The Philharmonie is home of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Digital Concert Hall. The Digital Concert Hall provides an excellent listening experience that gives you the feeling of sitting front row center. Except for that whole having to fly over the pond and on to Berlin thing. The BPO is not the only orchestra that gives stellar performances at the Philharmonie and I have two performances by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Manfred Honeck recorded by the Digital Concert Hall for these videos from Performance Today.
The performance in the video below is the Opening Concert of Musikfest Berlin 2013 and features works from 3 composers. The program opens with Suite for String Orchestra by Leos Janacek followed by Chain 2, Dialogue for Violin and Orchestra by Witold Lutoslawski featuring Anne-Sophie Mutter as the Violin Soloist. The program is concluded with Ein Heldenleben, Opus 40 by Richard Strauss. You may join Maestro Honeck and the PSO over on my tumblr for their 2011 tour ending concert performance of the Symphony No. 5 in C-Sharp Minor by Gustav Mahler.
To accompany these outstanding Musical performances, I had to search carefully for selections of photographic art that is equal to the beauty of the music. I think I have succeeded with this edition of Naked or Nearly So, including some actual art pieces as well as photographs. Then the cherry on top of the sundae is Ryan Wert who is your Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr. Thanks for sharing part of your weekend with me, see you again on Monday for another week of Music, Men & More! Until next time as always, Enjoy!
