I suppose some sort of explanation at to my disappearance from these pages for the last couple of days is warranted. I did have my reasons, believe me! The sequence of events comprising the upheaval of my home life midweek was definitely an exercise in domesticus interruptus. It seems that someone with whom we have had contact passed along a particularly nasty bit of pestilence. This little nasty bit developed into an infestation of such magnitude as to require professional fumigation of the entire residence. This mean tearing apart my whole household and stacking all my stuff in the middle of the floor so that the process could take place on Wednesday. I was not notified of the timing until after post time on Tuesday preventing an advance warning as to my absence.
Once the process began, we had to vacate the premises for 4 hours, the span of which would end after the time I had to be at work. So I got dressed for work then took a book to read and proceeded to one of my favorite little spots for quiet reflection. I parked my car in front of a pleasantly decorated mansion overlooking the River Crest Golf Course in the really old money Monticello neighborhood down the street from the store. I played a CD while reading my book to kill the couple of hours before work. All was well and good until the sound system suddenly quit and any attempt to start the vehicle were disabled. For some reason, in cars like mine, you can only set with the engine off and the key turned to the accessory possition before the electronics disable themselves. The only way to reset the electronics is to jump start the vehicle. Not that the battery is dead, but the touching of the cables to my battery when attempting tot start the car has the magical effect of ressetting the electronics back to an active status. This really is not a problem other than the fact I own no jumper cables and there was no one around to provide said jump in the first place.
I ended up calling work and the boss coame down to give me a ride up to the store. My co worker then called his dad who did have some cables. He said he would come help me out when he got off work at 4. That issue once resolved only left work, then the trip home where I face the daunting task of reassembling my domicile. I did have some luck there though, as Will had most of the major components back in place by the time I got home. However there was still all the pictures to rehang, drawers and shelves to refill, et cetera.
Then Thursday, I had to arise to the task of laundering or heat treating every scrap of fabric we owned. Not really my idea of a fun morning at all. At any rate, by the time all that was done and everything was put away, I was ready for a bit of chillax time before having to work last night. As you can tell, events had quickly spiraled out of control, encompassing virtually every waking moment for two days, except for those hours I spent at work. Now all that is left is the pay day chores and errand that did not get done yesterday that I now have to do before I go in to work my 10 hour Friday night shift. Fun and Games (much eye rolling)! So I guess I had better get to it, huh?
For your Friday Musical Moment I have a couple of Sonatas for Cello and Basso Conticuo from the quill of Domenico Gabrielli cued up for you. Today's performance features Roel Dieltiens on Cello, Konrad Junghanel on Lute and Johan van der Meer conducting the orchestra whose name is not readily apparent from the data on the Amazon page. You may also hear Gabrielli's Ricercari Numbers 1, 3, 4 and 5 with a performance by Julius Berger over on my tumblr.
Then to make up somewhat the lack of man art before your eyes the last couple of days, I tossed in a couple of extras and combined elements of Wet Wednesday, Men In Jeans and a couple of others to provide a healthy dose of Fantasy Fuel for this Friday. For more feverish fantasies, today's Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr invites you to 'Hike a Happy Trail' with him. Thanks for the visit, now it is off to do my chores and errands, see you again soon. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
