Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Marriage Equality is still in the news today as we take 2 steps forward and the TX AG tries to shove us one step back.  Federal Judges in Mississippi and Arkansas  have struck down those states ban on Marriage Equality.  Same Sex Couples should not be running down to the courthouse just yet as both decisions were stayed pending appeal adding to the number of cases piling up at the door to the Appellate Courts and the Supreme Court.  Meanwhile here in TX xenophobic neanderthal Attorney General and (oh fuck) Governor Elect Gregg Abbott is literally begging Federal Judge Orlando Garcia not to lift his stay on the decision striking down TX' Ban on Marriage Equality.

Many experts expect Garcia to lift the stay but whether he would make it effective  immediately or give fuckhead time to appeal is still up for speculation.  Abbott, at his callous best, was almost specious in his arguments against lifting the stay.  Towleroad.com quotes "In their motion, the plaintiffs' attorneys said the stay should be lifted because, for example, one of them is pregnant and if something were to happen to her before their marriage is recognized, it could affect her partner's legal rights to care for the child. But Abbott callously rejected that argument.

"These alleged harms are speculative; they are contingent on death or incapacity of one of the parties, but the plaintiffs do not allege any threat or expectation that these potential tragedies will befall them," Abbott wrote."  Fuckhead seems to forget that shit happens to his LGBT constituents IRL and the potential for very real harm to any of the TX' 46,401 same sex couples is ever present just like it is for his preferred patrons.  He is not even Governor yet and his shit is already beginning to stink up the place.  Let's hope Judge Garcia does the right thing.  Even if he does the right thing, it is still going to be a long two years until we next get an opportunity to rid ourselves of Governor Fuckhead.  These will not be the last barbs words I toss in his direction over the next two years.  But lets get on to more pleasant pursuits for now, shall we?

Your Midweek Musical Moment features the Music of Antonio Vivaldi who is as you know one of my favorite composers.  In the time of  Vivaldi the voice of the flute in the orchestra was that of the baroque recorder.  The Italian word flauto can refer a recorder if flauto dolce, flauto a becco or flauto diritto or a flute if flauto traverso.  Vivaldi wrote many works for flauto and today's featured selections of his Opus 10 Flute Concerti are performed on a soprano recorder.  Included in the play list are Concerto No.1 in F Major (La tempesta di mare), RV 433; Concerto No.2 in G Minor (La notte), RV 439; Concerto No.3 in D Major (Il gardellino), RV 428; Concerto No.4 in G Major, RV 435; Concerto No.5 in F Major, RV 434 and Concerto No.6 in G Major, RV 437.  Today performance is by the Slovak Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Bordan Warchal and features Jiri Stivin on Solo Recorder.

As flauto can refer to a number of woodwind instruments, so can flautino may refer to several high-pitched woodwind instruments such as the Zuffolo, Sopranino recorder or a Piccolo.  Over on my tumblr you may join Jiri Stivin again, this time on his Sopranino recorder in a stunning performance accompanied by Capella Istropolitana under the baton of Oliver Dohnanyi of Vivaldi's Concerto for Flautino in C Major, RV 443.

Then what would Wednesday be with out some supremely sexy scantily clad lads who are soaked and sultry in another splendid edition of Wet Wednesday for your visual appreciation on display after the play list.  More wonderful wetness can be perused over on my tumblr where the Hottie of the Day! is kinda Wet n ...WOOF!  Thanks for checking in, come again soon.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
