It is Spirit Day and because I slept for 12 hours last night, I have a little bit of 'spirit' back in my body. Millions go purple on Spirit Day in a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth. Observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes 'spirit' on the rainbow flag. As you can see I have 'purpled out' the blog for the occasion, and I may just keep the look for a bit. I hope you all will join me in supporting our LGBT youth, our allies and take your own stand against the harmful consequences of bullying in all its forms.
To help celebrate the day, I have chosen the record-breaking German pop and crossover violinist and recording artist David Garrett playing Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor from an early performance he made in 1997. The handsome performer now plays both pop, rock and classical works and has a huge following in Europe. At age 18 Garrett played with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester in Berlin, under the direction of Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and was hailed by critics unanimously for his style and brilliant technique. Over on my tumblr, you may hear a virtuoso performance of another of Mendelssohn's masterpieces, a 1996 recording of the Sonata for Violin and Piano in F Minor, Opus 4 by Shlomo Mintz and Paul Ostrovsky.
Now to inspire the spirit of sensuality in us all is a collection of denim deliciousness in this week's edition of Men In Jeans. If you like bad boys in denim, check out Johnny Hazzard who is your Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr. Thanks for joining me for a bit today, see you a gain soon. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
