Saturday at the Symphony Evening Concert

Welcome to the weekend and your Saturday at the Symphony Evening Concert.  As foretold in yesterday's post, tonight's featured work is the Symphony Number 9 in C Major by Franz Schubert.  Symphony Number 9 was originally published in 1840 as Number 7, however Schubert later revised the score and reissued it as Number 9.  Schubert like Mozart died young, but both were prolific composers.  Schubert left 7 complete symphonies of which this piece is Schubert's crowning symphonic achievement.  The magnificent performance you are about to hear tonight was recorded live at La Scala with Maestro Ricardo Muti conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in concert.  You may also join Maestro Muti, again at La Scala, over on my tumblr conducting the Filhamonica della Scala in their performance of Schubert's "Great" Symphony Number 3 in D Major.

To complement the marvelous musical performance, your listening experience will be visually enhanced with a slow cruise down the page to peruse this week's exquisite edition of Naked or Nearly So.  Even more numminess can be beheld when you check out Fabio Mancini, Your Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr.  Thanks for sharing a part of your weekend with me, we will gather for Music, Men and More! once again on Monday.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
