Boy am I glad it is Friday although it is my longest workday of the week. I am probably glad if for no other reason than that Thursday is mercifully over. As it was pay day there was lots to do and things got out of hand rather quickly after the first of the errands had been accomplished. It was then that I got called in to work the lunch shift in addition to my regular Thursday night shift. In between shifts I ran some more errands, took a quick dip in the pool to cool off then headed back to work.
The night seemed interminable the whole evening. However the straw that nearly broke the camel's back was the demon 2 year old child that came in with his apparent parental and/or grand parental units around 10:30 PM. After terrorizing the entire store, his mother was in one corner and he was in another. She was trying to coax him out of the store. He was adamantly opposed to the idea when he totally blew me away by saying "no, mother fucker, I need to go pee!" to his mother. She did not reprimand the child at all, just picked him up and took him to the rest room. I could not believe that a two year old would even know such a word much less say that to their mother in a public place. I would have died by my Father's hand if I had dare been so stupidly bold as to even attempt such an act.
Needless to say, I was in major need of stress relief when I got off of work, especially since my relief person was 15 minutes late getting there. So yes, I am certainly glad that Thursday is finally over and we can get on with getting the weekend started. With that in mind, I thought a lot of people head out to the movie theater on the weekends, so why not feature classical music that has been integral to the sound tracks of a great number of movies over the years in the Friday Musical Moment. So that is exactly what I am doing with this compilation of works by various composers from many different sound tracks put together by Halidon Music. You may also find Halidon Music on Facebook. Included in the play list are Chopin - Piano Prelude No. 15 'raindrop' - from "SHINE"; Schumann- Scenes from Childhood, Op. 15: No. 10, Almost Too Serious, in G-Sharp Minor - from "SHINE" ( 05:35 ); Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 - from "SHINE" ( 07:13 ); Verdi - La traviata Act I Preludio - from "PRETTY WOMAN"( 17:31 ); Piano Quintet in A Major, D. 667 "The Trout": II. Andante - from "SHERLOCK HOLMES 2" ( 21:17 ); Mozart - Clarinet Concerto in A Major, K. 622: II. Adagio - from "OUT OF AFRICA" ( 24:43 ); Beethoven - Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125 "Choral": IV (Inno alla gioia) - from "A CLOCKWORK ORANGE" ( 31:43 ); Beethoven - Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 27 No. 2 "Moonlight Sonata": I. Adagio sostenuto - from "IL PIANISTA" ( 56:58 ); Wagner - The Valkyrie, WWV 86B, III: "The Ride of the Valkyries" - from "APOCALYPSE NOW" ( 01:01:07 ); Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake, Act II, Op. 20: No. 10, Scene - from "IL CIGNO NERO" ( 01:07:06 ) and Offenbach -- Barcarolle - from "LA VITA È BELLA" ( 01:10:07 ). Uh uh, my kids all knew better than to act like that. You see it more and more these days, parents not parenting. They aren't doing their kids any favors by letting them act like monsters.
