A Stab in the Back

I was having a great day yesterday right up until I retrieved my mail.  In the mail was the record of a legal proceeding resulting in a judgement against me for non payment of rent at my old apartment complex.  I fired an email off to the regional manager who authorized the early termination of our lease questioning the cause of the legal proceeding.  I received a reply this morning which stated I did not pay my April rent.  I replied that I begged to differ with her and attached copies of the check showing their endorsement for deposit, and screen shots of the transaction listing showing the check being paid along with a copy of my bank statement showing the check had been paid.  I am now awaiting her reply.  I feel like my last residence was trying to stab me in the back for being unhappy with them by keeping my deposit and bringing a suit against me claiming I did not pay April's rent.  I have the records to prove that I did pay and on time.  I told her I wanted my deposit back and the records of this legal proceeding removed from both our credit reports.  Failure to do so would result in facing a legal proceeding of their own.  I am still pretty upset about the whole thing, but will try to remain patient while I await their response.
