Rick The Dick

On Friday, a federal district court judge ruled Michigan's ban on Marriage Equality to be unconstitutional but did not stay his decision pending appeal.  On Saturday, 300 same sex couples were married in Michigan.  On Sunday, Governor Rick 'The Dick' Snyder sought and obtained a temporary stay from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals until Wednesday when an 'emergency' appeal could be heard.  Governor Snyder stated that Michigan will hold off recognizing the marriages performed on Saturday until the 'emergency' appeal is heard and adjudicated.  Rick 'The Dick' issued the following statement via spokeswoman Sara Wurfel:

“We are extremely sensitive to feelings on this issue and are hoping for a swift resolution for all involved,” said Sara Wurfel, spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Snyder...

...“We are not saying that we aren’t or won’t recognize the marriages that happened on Saturday, but that we’re awaiting further court or legal direction on this complex, unusual situation,” Wurfel told The Associated Press in an email Sunday.

“Either way, this can’t be construed one way or another as not recognizing the validity of the same sex marriages.”

In exactly what other way could this dick move be construed?  Rick 'The Dick' is up for re-election in November and this is an obvious appeal to the far right radicals to bolster his campaign.  Although I do not expect the appeals court to overturn the original ruling, this is still a slap in the face to all those loving couples whose only desire is to commit their love to one another and be recognized as equal citizens under the law.  While the GOP is delusional their thinking they can actually win this battle, in reality it is so much shoveling shit against the tide that will ultimately sweep them and their discrimination out to sea never to return.  Now would be a good time to get involved in the campaign of Rick 'The Dick's' opponent to insure he is not re-elected.  Meanwhile, those 300 couples are in legal limbo and cannot apply for any benefits for which their marriage entitles them.  Definitely a Dick Move, Rick.

Your Monday with Mozart features the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in concert at their Mozart Celebration in Alice Tully Hall in May of last year.  The various groupings of players and the pieces are identified in the video, but there was no video description with a play list, so you will just have to catch the titles and the players as they come up in the video.  You can also catch the 1973 Slovak Chamber Orchestra performance of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik over on my tumblr.

Then to get the week started on a high note, there is the Monday tradition of muscly model men struttin' their stuff in their Monday's Undies on display below the video.  There is also the Hottie of the Day! to be appreciated over on my tumblr.  Thanks for starting your week here at Nichevo, see you again soon.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
