Lazy Saturday

I am feeling a bit lazy this morning.  There are lots of newsy things happening that I could go on and on about, but I am just not in the mood.  It is one of those gorgeous winter days we have here in Texas, blue skies, fluffy clouds, light breeze and an expected high near 70.  (You guys in the NE are probably hating on me right about now from under your never ending blanket of snow!)  In fact, as I was carrying in the groceries the other day, I saw my first harbinger of Spring as I watched a red breasted Robin hopping about the front yard.  I guess you would say I am having a bit of Spring Fever here in midst of winter.  So be it.  I did run across something I would like to share, however.  In Springtime, many people wax poetic as they mosey along on a warm day.  I ran across an excerpt of this poem in one of my feeds and Googled it to find the complete text.  For your thoughtful consideration here are the words of Theodore Roethke:

The Waking

By Theodore Roethke
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground!   I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

This week for your Saturday at the Symphony I have Symphony Number 2 in E Minor, Opus 27 by Sergei Rachmaninov. Your performance today is by the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sir Adrian Bolt uploaded just yesterday from a pristine 1971 Decca vinyl recording.  You may also hear Symphony Number 5 in E minor, Op. 64 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky over on my tumblr.  Immediately following the video are a number of nummy nude dudes in this week's edition of Naked or Nearly So.  Be sure also to check out the Hottie of the Day! while you are over at my tumblr.  Thanks for sharing a part of your weekend with me, see you again on Monday for another week of Music, Men and More!  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
