Wild Card Weekend

Despite the frigid temperatures at all the NFL Wild Card Playoff venues, 3 of the 4 games over the weekend were hotly contested affairs.  The only game won by more than 3 points was the San Diego Chargers victory over the Cincinnati Bengals by the score of 27-10 on Sunday.  Saturday's AFC match up between the Indianapolis Colts and the Kansas City Chiefs looked to be a blowout at half time with the score KC 31 Indy 10.  The Chiefs extended their lead early in the third quarter to 38-10, but were only able to put up 2 Field Goals for the rest of the game as the Colts staged the second biggest comeback in NFL playoff history.  The Colts rallied from a 38-10 deficit to win 45-44.  The only come back from a greater deficit was by the Buffalo Bills who rallied from 32 points down to the Houston Oilers in January 1993 in the Oilers last year of existence.  The Oilers then moved to Tennessee and became the Titans.

In Saturday's NFC match up, New Orleans won its first ever playoff game on the road in franchise history by beating the Philadelphia Eagles 26-24 with a 32 yard Field Goal as time expired.  The other NFC match up on Sunday pitted the San Francisco Fortyniners against the Green Bay Packers on the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.  The Packers rarely lose at Lambeau in the playoffs, however SF alos won on a Field Goal as time expired making the final score 23-20.

For next week's Divisional Round, New Orleans travels to Seattle to play the Seahawks.  The Fortyniners travel to Carolina to play the Panthers.  San Diego travels to Denver to play the Broncos and the Colts travel to New England to play the Patriots.  We shall see who will prevail and move onto the AFC and NFC Championship games.

I will be pulling for Carolina to beat the Fortyniners as I hate to see the Fortyniners win any game much less a playoff game.  I like New Orleans because they knocked off the Eagles, but I expect Seattle to win that one as the Saints lost badly to the Seahawks (34-7) in Seattle just five weeks ago.  The Colts should make a game of it but the Patriots at home in the playoffs rarely lose and should prevail.  San Diego at Denver could be the hot game of the weekend as Denver beat San Diego in San Diego but then lost to the Chargers (27-20) in Denver on December 12.

Seattle and Denver hold the home field advantage throughout the playoffs and should be the host cities for the Championship Games which will probably feature a Broncos/Patriots and Seahawks/Panthers matchups.  Again we shall see who really does come out on top and move on to Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2.  Sentimentally, I will be pulling for Peyton Manning and the Broncos as a Super Bowl Championship would be the icing on the cake after the Broncos' and Manning's  record setting regular season.

This week, Monday with Mozart features a 1986 Paris studio recording of Mozart's Flute Quartets by an all star cast originally released on vinyl in 1987 by CBS records.  Included in the play list are Quartet in D major K. 285, Quartet in D major K. 285a, Quartet in D major K. 285b and Quartet in A major K. 298.  The performance is by Jean-Pierre Rampal on Flute, Isaac Stern on Violin, Salvatore Accardo on Viola and Mstislav Rostropovich on Cello.

Finally on this frosty Monday, I have a little heat to add to your day with these seriously sexy studs lounging about in their Monday's Undies for your visual appreciation.  Thanks for sharing a part of your Monday with me, see you again soon.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
