As I mentioned in Saturday's post, I had a very hectic schedule over the weekend. In fact, the period of some 44 hours from 6 PM on Friday to 2 PM on Sunday could best be described as intense. Of those 44 hours, 25 were spent at work. With beautiful 70 degree weather over the weekend, hundreds of thousands of visitors and participants made their way to the few square miles of the Cultural District in the near West Side of Fort Worth. As such, the traffic was horrendous, increasing my travel time to and from work to double what it normally is. With all the visitors and the store being just north of the festivities, we were crazy busy at all hours of the day and night. By the time I arrived home around 3 PM yesterday, I was extremely tired, bodily sore and just a 'little grumpy'. I am still decompressing from the stress and my body still hurts all over this morning. I have just one more shift this afternoon before my weekend hits and boy am I ever ready for that. The other good news of the day is that I should get my bottom plate back today or tomorrow thus making it ever so much easier to eat.
It is also the beginning of Super Bowl Week with activities all week culminating in Super Bowl XLVIII itself on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time. To get you ready to enjoy the game, Jim Buzinski, co founder of Outsports, has prepared a guide to the game: Super Bowl XLVIII for the Clueless. Buzinski gives you the low down on all things Superbowl as well as his prediction for the outcome of the game between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks, clearly the two best teams in the league from day one of the 2013 NFL season. Buszinski, who like me, believes the Broncos will prevail in a closely contested game, his prediction is Denver 23 - Seattle 20. Only time will tell if we are both right.
This week your Monday with Mozart features Riccardo Muti conducting the Orchestra filarmonica della Scala in their performance of the master's Piano Concerto Number 21 in C Major, K 467 with Maurizio Pollini as the Piano Soloist. This concerto has become popularly known as the Elvira Madigan after the second movement was used as the theme song of the 1967 Swedish film about the ill fated Elvira Madigan and her murderous lover. You can also listen to Mozart's Concerto in C Major, K 299 for Flute, Harp and Orchestra with a performance by Sir Neville Marriner and the Academy of Saint Martin-in-the- Fields over on my tumblr.
