My Car, Misadventures Update, Music and Men!

After getting yesterday's post up, I ran to Family Dollar to pick up a couple of things.  On the way back home, I stopped at the dealership where my car is located just to check on its continued availability and cast an admiring glance or two.  I drove onto the lot, parked and then went over to my car to cast an those admiring glances.  The salesman I have been working with spied me on the lot and the next thing I hear over the PA system is "The blue Focus in the front row is definitely being held for Gerry!".  I gave a laugh, got a shit eating grin on my face, turned and gave a double thumbs up towards the showroom.  The salesman, Tommy, told me there had been no nibbles or inquiries regarding my car, so everything still looks to be set to go with just 19 days left before I can execute the initial phase of The Plan, Part One.

After returning home, I awaited the arrival of the painters.  And waited. And waited.  AND WAITED!  About 2:00, Will called the Code Compliance office who then dropped by about 2:30.  She was definitely not a happy camper when she discovered the work had not been completed on my unit.  She immediately called the General Contractor who apparently proceeded to give her a line of BS.  She then said "No, no, no!  This is how it is going to go!"  The painters then were suddenly definitely scheduled for this afternoon.  However, Will finished the work on his customer's computer, so we have to deliver it this afternoon.  We really don't want workers in our home without our presence, so now the painters have been rescheduled for Monday.  The Code Compliance officer told us that after the work in completed, she would like to inspect it and to inform her if after the next rain storm, we have signs of leakage once again.  She told us she had informed the General Contractor, if we did find any signs of leakage, she would have him remove the outer wall above where they had already repaired it, find the source of the leak and then reconstruct the outside to insure that we do not have future problems.  This made me a happy camper.  It is just a shame that I had to call in Code Compliance in order to get what should have been a relatively simple process to repair our initial maintenance concerns upon move in to be be repaired at all.  It really should not have taken 3 months to get this stuff done, but at least now it is getting done.  I think that the powers that be around here know that we are not to be trifled with.  If we have a concern, it will be taken care of, or we will call in the the necessary troop strength, and then it will get done!  It was a big hassle, but at least now it is finally about to be over and done with, I hope!
