There is good news out of New Zealand this morning where the third reading of the Members Bill to legalize Marriage Equality is due to be read in Parliament on Wednesday evening. The bill is expected to pass with much the same margin as the committee stages where the vote was 77 for and 43 against. If all comes to pass as expected, the first couples could begin marrying in 4 months. Yet another enlightened nation passes the USA in recognizing the Equality of all its citizens. Congrats NZ, here is hoping SCOTUS does the right thing here to bring Equality to all US citizens, and soon!
Coming up this Friday is GLSEN's Day of Silence (DOFS) which brings attention to the bullying and discrimination LGBTQ students face in school. GLSEN has put out a video about this years observation using the words of wing nut Linda Harvey to make the point that bullying and discrimination has to end. The video description reads:
"Linda Harvey has a lot to say about GLSEN's Day of Silence, but she must not have looked at the facts about what it's really like to be an LGBTQ student. Whose side are you on?
For more information about the experiences of LGBT students in school, read GLSEN's 2011 National School Climate Survey which had 8,584 student respondents from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. You can download the executive summary or full report for free: http://glsen.us/ZeHeVX". The video is really pretty straight forward and is posted below this paragraph.
That is pretty much all I have for today, now I have to go buy a tire to replace the one that blew out on the way to work last night. Fun, Fun!
For your Monday Musical Moment, I have another live recording, this one featuring the music of Franz Schubert recorded in Milan in 1997 and Moscow in 1998 in honor of Sviatislav Richter, who died in 1997. The performance is by Eliso Virsaladze and includes the following works: Adagio in E D612, Zwolf Grazer Walzer D924, Sonate in A D664, Allegretto in c D915 and Drei Klavierstucke D946. Following the video is this week's collection of lithesome lads and muscly men adorned in their finest Monday's Undies lounging about the page awaiting your visual appreciation. Thanks for spending part of your Monday here at Nichevo, see you again tomorrow. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
