I read an interesting article this morning about medical research that is now in clinical trials with human patients in Denmark that might prove to be a cure for the HIV virus that causes AIDS. Laboratory tests proved so positive that a research team headed by Dr Ole Sogaard of the Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark was awarded 12 million Danish Kroner (2.1 Million USD) to perform the clinical trials with human patients. The Dr says the signs so far are promising and should show very positive results within a few months. Dr Sogaard stressed that a cure is not the same as a preventative vaccine, and that raising awareness of unsafe behavior, including unprotected sex and sharing needles, remains of paramount importance in combating HIV. Similar research is going on in the UK but has not yet moved to clinical trials. The article is fascinating and enlightening and gives one hope that the researchers are on the right track with this research. I certainly would like to see them succeed in their efforts to rid the world of this scourge that has cost us so many lives and countless dollars world wide.
Your Monday Musical Moment play list begins with one of my favorites by Johannes Brahms, The Academic Festival Overture, with a performance by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra at the Brahmissimo concert series conducted by Pietari Inkinen. Next up is his Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 77 performed by the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alan Takeshi Gilbert and featuring Sayaka Shoji on Solo Violin. Completing the play list is his Tragic Overture with a performance by the European Union Youth Orchestra conducted by Sir Colin Davis.
Then of course there is this week's edition of Monday's Undies to distract you on your way down the page following the play list. Thanks for spending part of your Monday here at Nichevo, see you tomorrow. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
