Light the Way to Justice for Marriage Equality.

Their was a lot of news along the Marriage Equality front yesterday so I thought I would share that with you this morning.  First up we hear from Matt Baum from the American Foundation for Equal Rights as he brings us up to speed on the Marriage News watch and previews what we might expect in the President's State of the Union Address to be televised this evening:

Then during the week that the Supreme Court takes up the Oral Arguments in the Prop 8 and DOMA cases the last week of March, their will be support rallies for Marriage Equality all across the nation to Light the Way to Justice for LGBT Marriage Equality.  You can find a rally in your area at the Light the Way to Justice website.  They have produced a nifty video to promote the rallies which you can view right below this paragraph:

Next we move from the sublime to the ridiculous as of course there are those who are opposed to Equal Rights for us LGBT folks.  Mat Staver and Matt Barber were discussing the two Amicus Briefs filed by the inaptly named Liberty Counsel (they aren't for Liberty for Everyone, not even close) in the DOMA and Prop  8 cases before SCOTUS on the radio yesterday.  They made the the claim that it was "absurd" to to think that there is a Constitutional right to Marriage Equality because at the time of the founding of our country, being gay was a 'crime against nature' and punishable by death.  I would hope that in the last 200 years we have progressed a little further than these two neanderthals. but you can hear them make fools of themselves in the video below:

I am looking forward to hearing what the President will have to say this evening and to seeing who all will be sitting with the First Lady as she has invited guests who would be affected by the policy proposals the President is set to present this evening.  The guests will include the wife of the first openly Lesbian General in the Army, and those who would be affected by immigration reform among others.  Now all we will have to do is get Congress off their dufusses  and get some of this stuff passed into law.  This will take overcoming GOP obstructionism as they drag their knuckles in the mud before slinging it at us, but I never claimed it would be easy.  We are progressing but we still have a few battles to fight before the war is over.

Your Musical Moment for today comes to you via the Academy of Ancient Music under the direction of Christopher Hogwood with their performance of three symphonies by Joseph Haydn:  Numbers 79 in F Major, 81 in G Major and 104 in D Major 'London'.  This concert serenade should give you plenty of accompaniment for a leisurely scroll through a particularly sultry and smolderingly sexy selection of buff and handsome young gentlemen who are lounging about the page as your Tuesday's Temptations.  Surely you will find at least one that will trip your trigger on the way down the page.  Thanks for choosing to spend part of your Tuesday with me here at Nichevo.  See you again on the morrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
