Weekend Wrapup

A couple of weeks back I featured Big Cats at the top of the blog, this week is Itty Bitty Kitty week and will feature kittens in all their adorable glory starting with today's photo, Kitty Mozart.

In what was an almost painful experience to watch, the Dallas Cowboys out lasted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to earn their second victory of the young season.  In a game which neither offense seemed to want to win, both defenses played stellar games.  The Cowboys overcame 105 penalty yards and 3 turnovers and held Tampa Bay to just 162 yards of total offenses to eke out a 16-10 win.  The biggest play of the game was the 44 yard punt return of a 49 yard punt that set the Cowboys up for their last field goal to ice the game.  As inept as the Cowboys seemed on offense, Tampa was even worse.  In Tampa Bay's last 10 possessions, they had 1 turnover, 8 punts and a field goal (and that came in the last two minutes when the game was already out of reach).  Tampa Bay attempted an on sides kick after their last possession, which the Cowboys recovered and ran out the clock preserving an ugly win.  It may have been ugly, but a win is a win and I will take it.  The Cowboys next game in on Monday night against the Chicago Bears at Home.  I wonder which team will show up - I hope the the team from week one, but we shall see Monday Night.

In other Sunday news, yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the debut episode of The Jetsons in 1962 on ABC.  The futurama comedy lasted but one season but spawned more episodes for syndication in 1985-87 and an animated movie in 1990.  The series was from Flintsones' creators Hanna-Barbera which preceded the Jetsons by two years in 1960.  Both series enlived my childhood fantasy play time with my younger brother as we alternated playing Flintstones and Jetsons many times.  The series can still be seen in syndication in many parts of the US.

In the news on Saturday, The US Navy commissioned its newest littoral combat ship, The USS Fort Worth LCS 3 at Galveston's Pier 21 on Saturday.  The state of the art ship whose purpose is to combat piracy and terrorism in coastal waters is named for my home town and sponsored by the City of Fort Worth.  The Fort Worth joins Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi as Texas cities with a Naval Vessel named after them.  The ship cost 480 million dollars to build and will serve the nation for the next 30 years.

That brings us to the music and the men.  The music today is from yesterday's Sunday Morning Concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam featuring the Radio Chamber Philharmonic under the baton of Frans Bruggen in their performance of  the Symphony Number 2, Opus 36 by Ludwig von Beethoven.  Following the video is this week's collection of model men in the Monday's Undies to get your week off to a great start.  Thanks for the visit, see you again tomorrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
