A Full Bag Of Goodies For You Today!

There are times when a daily blogger like me runs short of something to say.  Today is not one of those days.  Where shall I begin?  I suppose I should start with what happened at work last night.  It was a pretty mellow evening for the most part.  I was working with the new guy, Max, who replaced Jesus who had gone on to greener pastures (which was why I was working 6 days a week for a while).  Now Max, even as a newbie, is already better at his job than Jesus was, and he is definitely easy on the eyes.  Too bad he plays for the other team, darn it!  Anyway, like I was saying, it was a pretty mellow evening until sometime between 2 and 2:30.  I was out front taking a smoke break when this lady pulls up, but did not get out of her car right away.  When she did get out of her car, she asked if I had my phone on me.  I told her I did and she requested I call her phone so she could find it in her car, which I did.  Then she asked me if I was still selling alcohol, which I wasn't as it was after hours.  She then asked me if I carried razor blades, which I don't.  She questioned me about this saying she needed  a razor blade and where could she get one.  She really did not know why I would not carry them, and I thought she might need one to cut up some drugs or something.  She kept questioning me and while she was she kept making cutting motions across her wrist and began to become distraught.  I became concerned and approached her trying to draw her into a conversation while I dialed 911 on my phone.  My phone beeps the 911 operator and they have to call back to see what was happening.  They did not call back until I had beeped them a second time.  In the mean time I was trying to keep this lady calm and at my store as she was getting adamant about going to Walmart to get a blade.  Luckily, in a manor of speaking, she was not from here and was confused about the directions as well as being distraught.  When the 911 operator called I told her the situation and she transferred me to the Med Star operator.  The Med Star operator was giving me instructions on what to do and to keep the lady talking,  alert and not to get her any food or drink, all the while the lady was trying to clarify the directions,  crying and trying to leave.  I moved to her side and stood in the doorway to her car so she could not back out and hurt herself or anyone else.  Thankfully the ambulance and the police arrived quickly and took the matter in hand, calming the lady then transporting her to JPS where she could get some help.  It is not often I get to save a life, but I was glad I was there for her and did what I did to prevent her from becoming another suicide statistic.  Afterwards, when the need to be strong and calm was over, then my nerves got a little jangled, but a couple of cigs later I was back to normal.  While all this was happening, a little rush of shoppers had come in as well as my two newspaper vendors, who I have to pay on Monday.  So here I was, new guy in the store, a store full of people, my vendors, 3 cop cars, an ambulance and a fire truck all at the same time.  It definitely livened up the evening, and like I said, I was glad I was able to do what was necessary for a positive outcome to her crises, then get the customers and the vendors taken care of before anything else happened.

Now, let's see what else I have in my bag to tell you about this morning.  Over the weekend, I saw a video by Live Cover 2011 which is the first video I would like to share with you today.  Entitled 'Questo Sei Tu' (This Is You), it is a truly beautiful, moving and romantic song.  It is sung in Spanish and I did not understand all the words, but I definitely got the message which was all about expressing romantic love and passion.  I think you will get the message too, no matter what language you speak.  As I was thinking of today's post I thought I would add a classical romantic piece to complement 'Questo Sei Tu', so I did a search on You Tube for the appropriate piece.  I remembered the term 'appassionata' and that is the tag I queried.   The result was this electrifying performance by Valentina Lisitsa of Piano Sonata, Opus 57 'Appassionata' by Ludwig von Beethoven, which is the play list under the first video.

Also over the weekend, I was reading an excellent article at the Advocate site, The Golden Age of Denial: Gay Bible Porn, which was illustrated by 24 photographs of masterworks by Renaissance artists.  I also learned a new word via this article, callipygian, which you can Google to see what it means in relation to this article as I had to do.  The author of the article did not define it but rather said Google it for yourself, so I did.  Anyway, rather than your usual dose of man candy of the Monday's Undies variety, I have posted the 24 illustrations from this article, which I am sure you will find just as inspiring as any guys I would have posted frolicking about in their undies.

That about empties my bag of goodies for you for today, but I am sure that your plate is full with all I have given you to appreciate and ponder.  Thanks for spending some of your Monday with me, check back tomorrow to see what I come up with next.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
