Remembering and Moving Forward

Seventy years ago today, America woke up to the news of the horrific sneak attack on the US Naval forces at anchor in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This event triggered the US entry into the global conflict of WWII.  I would like to think we have come a long ways from those dark days and in a lot of ways we have.  Although war is still a prevalent event in many parts of the world, more and more nations are seeking to live in peace with all other nations and seeking diplomatic solutions to points of conflict.  On the subject of diplomacy, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a major foreign policy address at the UN in Geneva, Switzerland yesterday declaring Gay Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Gay Rights.   President Obama backed up Secretary Clinton's remarks by issuing a foreign policy directive to include LGBT Human Rights as part and parcel of our national foreign policy.  Of course, there are those nations of the world that took umbrage at this, but it is one more step forward in our cause to bring true equality into all our lives.  Now if he could just get the far right wing nuts in this country (and others) to take this message to heart, we could make some real progress.  But one step at a time is how a journey is made, and we will keep on taking these steps until we approach our destination for real.   It is with great joy and hope we receive this news that our nation is finally officially recognizing that LGBT persons have the same right to live as any other person, no matter where we may live in the world.

Now with politics out of the way, let's get to the entertainment!   I continue with the cello theme today with Cello Suite Number 3 by Johann Sebastian Bach performed by Mischa Maisky  in today's play list.  However, I am doing something a little different than usual in the eye candy section, bringing back the About Face theme for today.  I hope you approve of this little foray into portraiture.   Thanks for the visit, come again soon.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
