Friday, Friday

Ah Friday, the most magical of weekdays when we are released from the workaday world to pursue our own pleasures before once more assuming the mantle of responsibility on Monday.  To celebrate the days ahead I have put together a play list reminiscent of a weekend in the country; The Piano Quintet in A Major, 'Trout', D 667 by Franz Schubert performed by Julian Rachlin, Mischa Maisky, Mihaela Ursuleasa, Nobuko Imai and Stacey Watton in a film by Jasmina Hajdany. The Quintet, written in 1819 when Schubert was only 22, is unusual in that it is written for Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass rather than the more usual Piano and String Quartet.
