First off, let me apologize for not getting a post up on Tuesday, however circumstances and situations prevented a timely posting. Therefore I have decided to double the number of photographs in the eye candy section of today's post to make up for the lack of one yesterday. That being said, there is a story to be told. After working all night on Sunday night, I came home and proceeded to pack up the remaining portion of my worldly goods in preparation for moving to the new apartment once electric power was installed there. When I called to check the status of the installation, I was told by my electric service provider, Stream Energy, that I was still in the technical limits of 24-48 business hours of priority service for installation and that I should call the lines and poles people, On-Cor Energy for a status update. When I called On-Cor, I was informed that they had no record of any priority service request for my new address. I called Stream back and they discovered that On-Cor had rejected my service request because my apartment complex had not replaced the base in the meter housing which would allow a new meter to be installed and electric service to begin. This presented a two fold scenario with which to deal. Number one, I had to prevent the disconnection of electrical service at my current apartment until service at the new apartment could be installed which took 3 hours on the phone and brought me to the highest level of customer service supervisor in the corporate headquarters. Then I had to move the mountain so that Mohammad could arrive and the powers that be in my apartment complex could install a new meter base. In order for that to happen a call by my apartment complex to On-Cor would have to be made as there has been so much theft of electrical service in my complex, On-Cor had installed double locks on all meter housings to prevent said theft. Once that was accomplished, then maintenance here at the complex in the person of Joel could replace the base of the meter. On-Cor arrived and removed the locks around 3 PM on Tuesday but as of this writing, the meter base has yet to be replaced. When that work is performed, I can then place a call to Stream, order the transfer of service to the new apartment and Stream could then place a service request for priority service through the State data base for such things to On-Cor who then could come back out, install the new meter, replace the double locks on the meter housing and electric service could begin at the new apartment. If this sounds complicated and redundant it is because it is just that. I am not, however going to order the disconnect at my old address until such time as I can flip a switch and the lights come on in the new apartment. Upon the initiation of electrical service at the new place, then Joel can replace the regulator valve in the toilet so that it can operate properly and install an operable air conditioning unit which is at present a cement slab and a pile of dirt.
Mean while, since I did not move on Monday, I got to watch the first half of Monday Night Football between my beloved Cowboys and the arch rival Washington Redskins. It was a slug fest that ended tied at 9 points apiece at the half. I listened to the continuation of the game on the radio on the way to work and just as I was arriving, the Redskins scored a touchdown to go up by 16-9 and the Cowboys answered with a field goal to make it 16-12. I heard nothing further until after the game when a customer informed me of a Cowboys victory by two points at 18-16. This was the result of terrific leadership of injured quarterback Tony Romo (broken rib, punctured lung) and a valiant effort by the defense to hold the Redskins scoreless after their touchdown for the remainder of the game sealing the victory with a sack of their quarterback, forcing a fumble which the Cowboys recovered. With the victory, the Cowboys move into a first place tie with both NY and Washington, but having the statistical edge on Washington due to the victory over them. So even with all the horrendously stressful events of the day, all was right with the world as the Cowboys had defeated the Redskins which, in my book, is the sweetest of events possible in a football season.
This brings us to Tuesday morning where after working all night, I arrived at Legal Aid of Northwest Texas for a consultation with an attorney there to find my legal options to remedy my current situation. For as much as I have tried to cooperate and comply with my apartment complex's request demand that I move to the new apartment for my "health and safety", they seem to insist on putting seeming cement stumbling blocks in my path to success in accomplishing exactly that. After another 3 hours of waiting/consultation time, I returned to my current apartment and set about writing a letter to my apartment complex delineating the actions necessary on their part to make my move possible. I then hand delivered the letter to my apartment manager, Norma, who set the letter aside unopened after asking if the letter was in reference to the meter issue. I had answered in the affirmative, neglecting to mention the other issues in the letter as I wanted her to read the results of my efforts for herself rather than give a verbal rehash of the same. I then went to get some lunch to take back for Will and I and returned home. I finally got to bed after all of my work, trials and tribulations around 4 PM. It was then that the air conditioner in my current apartment decided to bugger itself causing the heat to rise inside to the semi sweltering 85 degrees it is now as I sit in a puddle of swear while trying my best to keep you guys apprised of my adventures in moving. Of course there has been no answer on the maintenance hot line or at the office and certainly no action to resolve the issue. So here we sweat until such time as the always desultory and inefficient maintenance process plods along to resolve this problem. Looks like it is time for another letter....
Moving along to more pleasant thoughts, I have a terrific set of videos of a London Symphony Orchestra performance of the Piano Concerto Number one in C Major, Opus 15 by Ludwig von Beethoven featuring Sir George Solti conducting and Murray Perahia as the Piano Soloist. Hard on the heels of the videos are sixty scrumptious studs in a display of Random Hotness I am sure will please your visual palate. Thanks for spending some of your valuable time listening to my adventures. Do come again soon (and with friends!). Until next time as always, Enjoy!
