In addition to the "normal" madness of Saturday night at the store, things got a little crazy on the home front too when the dishwasher in my apartment sprung a leak. Will called me 3 times while I was at work, each time sounding more and more desperate for a solution. He had built a dam from all my extra towels to keep the water from cascading down the kitchen, however the carpet in the living and dining rooms was getting wetter in an ever widening arc extending from the dishwasher. He had tried to turn off the intake valve for the dishwasher to no avail as it was stuck in the wide open position. When I got home from work, I could not enter the apartment without sloshing through wet carpet. I managed to get the intake valve turned off with my trusty channel locks, but that still left us with sopping wet carpet in about a third of the living and dining areas. We caught the maintenance man, Joel, just as he was about to leave for church to come over with the carpet machine to help clean up the mess. He extracted a veritable river of water from my carpet in short order, thankfully. However now there is that slight musty tang of mold in the air. Thank God we only have 4 more days before we can move to the new place which has fresh paint, new carpet and appliances so we hopefully won't have to deal with these kind of things happening to us.
I did manage to catch some rest before the Cowboy game came on, and that turned out to be a thriller with plenty of ups and downs before the Cowboys secured the victory over the Forty-Niners 27-24 in overtime. There were plenty of kudos to go around the team, like Miles Austin's 3 touchdown receptions, Tony Romo's determination and leadership despite cracked ribs (which occurred in the first quarter), and the resiliency of the team as they rallied around their injured leader. However the highlight of the day came in the overtime period after the Cowboys stopped the Niners on their first possession with a 3 and out. Second year receiver Jesse Holly subbing for an injured Miles Austin caught the defense biting on a play fake as he streaked down the sideline with a strike from Tony Romo for a 77 yard gain from the Cowboy's 22 to the Niner 1 yard line on the first Dallas offensive play of overtime. This set up Rookie Place Kicker Dan Bailey's game winning 19 yard field goal just 3 minutes into the OT. This sets up next Monday night's home opener with the arch rival Washington Redskins where, with a victory, Dallas can claim first place in the division taking it from the currently leading Redskins. I think I will be late for work next Monday so I can watch the whole game, he he!
In the news this morning is a right wing nut job who claims there is no such thing as a LGB or T person! Click on the link to get her contact info so we all can inform her that we do indeed exists even in the face of such bull shit coming from the mouths of the likes of this woman. I do believe some of these nut jobs really need to get a grip on reality before they really drop off the deep end (if they haven't already)!
Now for the best part of the day, the music and the men. I am featuring an instrument I have heretofore not featured in any concerti, however the music is from my all time favorite composer. The concerti I have for you today were originally written for soprano recorder by Antonio Vivaldi but are here transcribed for the Piccolo. They are the Concerti in C Major numbers 444 and 443, unfortunately the soloists and orchestras are not listed. They are none the less very well done and quite listenable. This will give you the perfect music to enhance your aural pleasure as you scroll through all the scrumptious lads cavorting about in their Monday's Undies to inspire your visual pleasure and perhaps your libido also. Thanks for spending part of your Monday with me, check back in soon and often. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
