I collected quite a number of photographs this week, numbering over 500 or so. This made the winnowing down to just a select few photos a tough job indeed. While I was in the selection process, I was listening to Venice Classic Radio when they played a remarkable piece of music which seemed to fit the majesty of the men I was selecting for display. So naturally I went You Tube to search for the same piece, the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saens. In my search I discovered this amazing young Australian Violin Virtuoso by the name of Ray Chen. In addition to the Saint-Saens piece which was performed at the 2009 Queen Elizabeth International Violin Competition in Brussels, Belgium, I have a 2011 concert performance at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Peter Oundjian. In this concert he is joined by Oboe soloist Diana Doherty in playing the Brahms Violin Concerto. All this majestic music is the perfect accompaniment to the marvelous collection of majestic men in this week's edition of the Best of the Web This Week comprising some 90 outstanding photographs.
