There is a lot of interesting stuff in news and sports today, so let's just dive right in, shall we? Let's see, where to begin? How about The New York Times. Yesterday The NY Times did a couple of right things to affirm their stance in favor of GLBT rights. The first thing was the addition of Frank Bruni as an anchor columnist on the OP/Ed page, the first openly gay journalist to make that jump into prominence. The second thing was the launch of an interactive portion of their website dedicated to Coming Out with videos and reader submitted stories from across the country dealing with coming out as GLBT. A hat tip to Towleroad.com for these articles and more. Rachel Maddow takes a look at Minnesota politics in the fight for marriage equality there and Time Magazine adds a blog from Officer X, dealing with feeling from the inside on the DA/DT repeal in progress in the military. All the news items and videos are very informative and easy to read/watch. Well worth your time.
Turning to sports, the Dallas Mavericks took a commanding 3-1 edge in the NBA's Western Conference Finals with a dramatic come from behind overtime win over the OKC Thunder, 112 to 105. They now head back to Dallas for game 5 where, with a win, the Mavericks will go on to the NBA Finals against the Eastern Conference Champions. Meanwhile over at the Jock Talk Blog at OutSports, we find the following items of interest: Rugby player Ben Cohen retires and launches his Standup Foundation to fight homophobia in sports and anti-gay bullying with a US tour; straight former college wrestler Hudson Taylor takes his Athlete's Ally program on tour to Bates College where here gets 500 new pledges to combat homophobia in sports; and the first professional sports team, MLS's Columbus Crew partners with Outlook Media to sponsor the first Pride Cup, a gay soccer tournament to be held at the Crew's stadium as part of the Columbus Pride Celebration. This has got to be the Gayest year in sports that I have ever seen. When will the other pro sports teams or leagues get with the program and hop on the equality bandwagon? Let's hope it is real soon as we are making progress every day towards that goal of equality.
Finally today we have a whole grunch of hot Men In Jeans sure to cause a rise in your Levi's and make your Tuesday that much better all the way around. Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
