Well the last couple of days have passed in a blur. You probably noticed I did not get a post up yesterday and there is a good reason for this. I went to work Monday night at 10:45 prior to the snowpocalypse beginning. It was raining and as the hours passed, the rain changed from rain to sleet and eventually to snow. This, of course, caused the people here in Texas to put their brains on a shelf before getting in their vehicles to go out and about resulting in many instances of stupidity on the roadways. Just watching out the front windows on the idiocy performed at the intersection was very entertaining. The sleet had deposited about an inch of ice on the roads which was covered by powdery snow. Texans, ice and snow do not belong in the same sentence much less on the same roadway. The major impact it had on me was the fact that no one came to work to relieve me at the appointed time or anytime soon thereafter. In fact no one showed up to relieve me until 10 after 2 on Tuesday afternoon. By the time I was relieved, I was exhausted and very pissed off and I still had to navigate my way to my place without getting killed or maimed by the idiots on the road. I took the side streets home as I was not about to take my life in my hands on the icy interstate. This took about half an hour as opposed to the normal 8 or so minutes. When I did arrive at home I was too exhausted to do much of anything like put together a post or converse coherently. I was too wound up to go to sleep right away, so I heated up a can of chili, ate that and then finally around four I went to sleep. As I sit writing this post it is 13 degrees Fahrenheit but the precipitation has stopped. It is still damned cold for Texas in February and the cold is supposed to stick around until Friday, joy oh joy! That is why I did not get a post up yesterday as I was planning on doing. It is now Wednesday morning, early in the AM as I am putting together this post. It is pretty mellow around here, Will and I are on Skype talking with our buddy in Brisbane while he games and I write in these pages.
I posted on Monday that I would let you know how the transition process to my new computer went . In a word it was painless. My new computer, aptly named Nichevo, arrived at 4:13 PM on Monday and within a half hour I was up and running, installing my programs from my flash drive while waiting for Will to wake up so I could transfer all my data files from his external HD. By the time I left for work I had completed the set up, file transfer, program installations and had begun the personalization tweaks to make Nichevo truly my own machine. This has been really easy to do and organizing my files has been a snap also. I love the Libraries feature of Windows 7 which makes organizing anything easy. For an obsessive/compulsive neat freak like me this is a wonderful tool. The graphics card is a major improvement over my old computer as it is a Radeon HD graphics card which makes my flat panel monitor perform at its maximum with sharper imagery than I have ever had available to me. This makes the eye candy even better than ever. I have Nichevo tweaked like I want it now and I am enjoying its many features. One that I really enjoy is the enhanced performance of my peripherals like the headset I use when talking on Skype. One of the options is to reduce the volume of my tunes so as not to obscure the conversations, I can choose 50 per cent, 80 percent or none at all. The default is 80 percent which works well for me, making the music noninvasive yet still entertaining. I have two DVD/CD burners and a 15 in 1 data card reader so uploading photos from my Nikon Cool Pix is easier than ever. To say I am pleased with my purchase is a major understatement. The waiting time seemed forever, but the wait was definitely worth it. I am sure you will hear all about any new discoveries I find as I explore the many various regions and tools contained within the sleek box sitting beside my desk, probably ad nauseum, lol.
I have some videos to share with you today as well as the normally excellent eye candy so I will let you get on down to them. Thanks for stopping by and do come again. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
