Don't Ask/Don't Tell/Don't Work

I have not gone on too many political rants since the election of Barack Obama as President, taking a wait and see approach on his administration. However, the honeymoon is fast ending as the President seems to be pussy footing around GLBT issues. Especially egregious is the latest round of firings of imminently qualified and successful military leaders under the current DA/DT fiasco of a policy. I have posted Rachel Maddow's interview of Lt Col Victor Fehrenbach, an 18 highly decorated veteran fighter pilot in the USAF, the latest victim. When is this senseless policy going to end? How can a progressive President like Mr Obama waffle around and kow tow to the neanderthals in the Pentagon while letting good peoples lives go down the tubes and America's security lessened by the loss of the excellent service members services to our country. We have been patient and we have been understanding, but that time is past now. The senseless waste of taxpayer dollars, the damage to these service members lives and the security risk to America, all of these things cry out for an immediate change to this disastrous policy. How long are we going to have to wait, or are we once again being lied to by a politician who claims he has our back on GLBT rights issues? I am hoping not to be disillusioned by another politician, I am hoping Mr President, that you keep your promises to us, end Don't Ask/Don't Tell now or at least stop its implementation by executive order until the legislation is passed and signed into law. As it is Don't Ask/Don't Tell just plain Don't Work for me, for the service members affected, or for America. It is time to change it, NOW!
