The Tide Has Turned

"Storm Clouds Over The Rockies"

There is much to celebrate today with the Iowa Supreme Court affirmation of the rights of GLBT Iowans to marry and the vote of the Vermont Legislature to overturn the governors veto of the Marriage Equality bill sent to his desk to be signed into law. Iowa and Vermont have been traditional political bell weathers signaling the winds of change in America. These events bode well for the rights of GLBT people across America who daily are getting closer to full equality under the law. The fight is by no means over, but the tide has turned and the conservative nightmare that were the Bush years are being washed away. Truly a red letter day for Human Rights in America.

On a more personal note, A and Vigi just brought my new sofa upstairs. We have accomplished the delivery in stages, with me picking it up from the store in the van on Monday. The next big hurdle was getting it upstairs. That and finding 10 minutes when the three of us could be away from the store at the same time with the van containing the sofa. A and Vigi surprised me just around 10 o'clock by their arrival as we had not made prior arrangements. I am now psyched and ready to assemble it this afternoon when D comes over with S. My apartment is beginning to look like a real person actually lives here and not just a pit stop my way to work. This makes Uncle a very happy camper, especially coupled with the acquisition of my car over the weekend. Now I can invite people over and not have to tell them to pull up a piece of floor to sit down and if the mood strikes I can get up and go wherever I want when I want to go. Sweetness indeed!

I have been remiss in keeping you up to date on Will's injury. He got his MRI back which revealed no cartilage damage meaning no surgery is required. Very good news. His recovery is going slower than he would like and Wally world is giving him a lot of shit about it. He has a new brace which allows him greater mobility, however he is far from being the next winner of the Boston marathon, much less able to hike the couple miles to work on foot. His doctor has also forbidden him to ride his bike. (Side note here some asshole stole his bike by cutting the chain on Monday) This makes getting to work a little difficult and I am not sure he is ready to stand up for 8 hours either. This adventure is sure to continue on for a while, so I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, if you would like to send him get well wishes you can do so by emailing them to williamscheefjr@yahoo.com or by leaving a comment on his You Tube page. Get well soon, Buddy!

That brings us to the pretty part of these pages for today. I have been cruising my archives in Picasa a lot here lately reminding myself of all the delicious eye candy I have stored on my computer. It is really a fun process to randomly pick an album of archived photos and see a theme for a post develop almost magically with a few rolls of the scroll wheel and a couple of mouse clicks. Today's results are these classic shots from Uncle Gerry's Archives (album = Men 2.5) of Men In Jeans to help you over the hump and started downhill towards the weekend. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
