Downtown Fort Worth, Texas
After all the stress that went before the move, the move itself was a piece of cake. I ended up working Friday night but not Saturday as they gave me the option of not working on Saturday and I took them up on it. I had not at that point packed a thing with all the events swirling around me. I packed in spurts napping in between and I still made it for one last visit to Frostop before leaving town. It had become one of my faves when going out to grab a bite and I will miss them, although there are lots of places to get a good Chicken Fried Steak sandwich here in Texas. There are also lots of places to get Tex Mex food which was non-existent in Arkansas. (Arkansas Mexican food tastes like it is from New York City, at least in my experience, but I am slightly spoiled from the real having eaten real Tex Mex my entire life). Anyway, I got it all packed up and was ready to go when Paul arrived on Sunday around 11AM. It only took about 20 minutes to load up the van and then we were off to Texas. We stopped just outside of Little Rock in a town called Malvern at a little truck stop called JJ's to get something to eat before getting too far down the road. Turns out they have a fabulous buffet for 9 bucks. So if you are on I30 in Malvern, Arkansas, stop in and stuff yourself, you will not regret the experience. When we got back on the road, I promptly took a nap for a couple of hours, awaking right before the Texas State Line. We made good time arriving in the metroplex around 5 PM having had no problems on the road. My buddy for whom I am going to work called when we were about an hour and a half out saying my apartment was not going to be ready until Wednesday but he had already paid for a hotel for three nights near the store. We drove straight to the hotel, off loaded all my stuff, then got caught up on the football highlights before tuning in Sunday Night Football for the Cowboys/Redskins match up. My Gal Pal came over to the hotel to watch the game with me and we had a great time catching up on the last few months and watching the Cowboys pull out the game in the fourth quarter to get the 'Boys back on track. Gal Pal went home at the end of the game and I got to watch all the local highlight shows that I have not gotten to see yet this season. The result of today's games brought Dallas into second place in the Division ahead of the 'Skins and Eagles (who tied Cincy in the first regular season tie in 5 years insuring their placement at the bottom of the NFC East, yippee!). That only leaves the Giants ahead of us and brightens the playoff prospects considerably for the 'Boys.
At half time we ran down to the store where I will be working for a mystery shop (I needed some Dr Pepper) and found workmen there installing a new tile floor which was looking good but left the store in disarray during the process. However, you could still find stuff and while moving about the store, I was greeted by this cute as hell little Hispanic dude with long hair. I had on my Tony Romo shirt so we got in a little convo about the game and I found he was from the neighborhood just running out at half time like me for snacks before returning to the game. I will look forward to seeing him again, and he is welcome bring more of his buddies if they look as good as he does. I would say the eye candy prospects in the neighborhood are going to be pretty good which will add visual inspiration on a daily basis. Who knows, Uncle Gerry might even get laid if he plays his cards right, stranger things have happened, just not lately.
After the game I got online, yes I set my computer up before even turning on the TV, then changed my cell number to an 817 area code. That was a fairly simple process, I just had to call Sprint on Skype so the cell phone would be available to reprogram. Quick, simple and painless. I like that. I then changed my Skype options so it forwards to the new number and left my buddy Will in Omaha an off line message (he was at work) with the new number. I turned in then as I was a little tired from the excitement of the move and the Cowboy game and the hot little dude at the store and the visit from Gal Pal. I packed quite a bit into this Sunday and I have a busy day today so I wanted to get a little rest. I did set the cell phone on the night stand because I figured Will would call when he got off work. It took me no time to drop off to sleep, the next thing I became aware of was how badly I needed to make a run to the bathroom before drowning in my sleep around 4 AM. I had just sat back down on the bed when Will called as I knew he would. We had a short visit (only a couple hours this time) before he turned in. He was kinda tired from unloading a couple of big trucks at the new Wally World where he works. I let him go so I could concentrate on getting this post done before I have to head out to get things done today. My schedule will be Topsy Turvy for a bit as I transition from midnights to a day schedule and my body adjusts my sleep schedule.
One of the things Will does is send me links to stuff he Stumbles Upon he feels would interest me. I in turn put them out for you so you too can enjoy his Internet wanderlust and off beat sense of humor. Listed below are some of the latest he has sent me.

Moving into the political arena just a little, you might want to check out Mark Fiore's toon on the Gay Marriage fight/debate/argument. Then President-elect Obama started something new this week by recording his weekly radio address on video and uploading it to You Tube, being the first President to do so. Sort of a video Fireside Chat if you will which I have posted just below. The video is followed by the studs of Monday's Model Men to get you all hot, bothered and off to a great start for your week. I am looking forward to this new adventure and being able to tell you about it here in these pages. Stay tuned for more exciting episodes at a monitor near you!
