The Equality Ride Bus is on the road -- now heading to their third stop, Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Just last week at Liberty University, an anonymous student thanked the Riders: "Just by being here, you are providing so much comfort to so many students."
As you can imagine, training and sustaining these young adults for the adventures they will face on the Equality Ride is a huge endeavor. The bus itself cost $41,000 to rent. Feeding everyone for a day costs $475. Housing everyone for one night costs $800. And on every campus, the Equality Ride leaves books, pamphlets, and other materials for LGBT students, free of charge.
For a limited time, you can receive one of these genuine 2008 Equality Ride buttons -- just like the Riders are distributing at the colleges and universities they visit -- by making a donation of $15 or more. In addition, your donation will qualify you to receive a postcard from the road!
The Equality Ride is making a difference in changing the climate at schools and universities across the nation. By the end of 2008, the Soulforce Q Equality Ride will have visited 68 schools across the country, including military academies, Christian colleges, and historically black colleges and universities. Students have seen the effects of our work: 16 gay-straight alliances, two policy changes, scores of local and school newspaper articles, faculty-led safe zones, and new ties to LGBT community members.
Please donate today so we can continue making a difference.
The goal of Soulforce is freedom for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people from religious and political oppression through the practice of relentless nonviolent resistance.
