Mid Week Distractions

Grand Canal, Venice, Italy

Mmmmmmmmm, bought an aroma therapy candle on sale this morning in my wanderings and it must work, I drifted off in mid task while typing the title under the photo above and I just woke up (two hours later!). Either it is a great candle or I needed the nap, one of the two. I had a pretty good night, wearing my IT hat instead of the auditor's visor. Our GM brought the computer from Shreveport up as it had managed to eat itself in the transition from NLR to S, LA and I had to discombobble it for the return trip this morning. Your intrepid Uncle once more set thing to right, simplifying the access and generally dumbing it down some so some wayward clerk could not f*** it up by accident. By the time I got that done, TC had the audit done and I just had to twiddle my fingers until breakfast time and Ms V came in to relieve me. I putzed around a bit before leaving to get my hair cut at that little Lakehill Barber Shop I told you about here. In the new tradition of taking photos of places I have told you about previously, I took my trusty CoolPix L18 along for the ride to record the event. Not that getting a haircut is all that big a deal, but old fashioned professional services of a licensed barber rather than just a "stylist" (there is a difference in the licensing procedure) for a reasonable price is always a welcome experience. Just to be able to walk in and have Kenny remember who I am, how I like my hair cut and then proceed to give me exactly that is a luxury I have too long done without. So Here is a picture of a the shop and one of Kenny the Barber hard at work. If you are ever in NLR and need a god haircut this is the place to go:

I am really having fun with my camera. the CoolPix L18 makes taking great photos so easy as I guess you can tell from the photos I have uploaded so far. It can turn an ordinary trip to the barber into a mini adventure worthy of note. I could not help but stop in at Frostop where I had another great lunch, their version of the Philly Cheese Steak which was fabulous just like the Burger and the Chicken Fried Steak I had on previous trips.

I tell ya, the place is just too good, I am just hooked on good food and great eye candy in one place or maybe a little of both? As I explore the further reaches of my immediate neighborhood, I am finding friendly people and fascinating photo opportunities that challenge my modest abilities as a budding photographer. Shortly after I arrived here, I took that little trolley ride around the River Cities that provided a lot of insight into things to see & do. I think I will retake that little tour, taking you guys along for the ride. I may experiment with the video function, perhaps a video travelogue with the running commentary from the trolley operators/tour guides. Another adventure to look forward to and bring back to you guys here. It make take a minute of two to get this accomplished as I am currently back on a 7 day schedule for the time being. The new hotel in S, LA opens this weekend and we have supplied some folks to facilitate that procedure, leaving us somewhat shorthanded here. MsV, MM and myself can handle the desk and the audit for the next little while, banking some OT in the process.

I still have the aroma therapy candle going and I am getting a little dozy again so I guess I will just post some Mid Week Distractions to entertain you while I head of to sleepy land. Thanks again for stopping by, until next time as always, Enjoy!
