Wednesday Morning, 3 AM

I was reminded of the song from Latter Days as I looked at the clock when starting to write this post. It is indeed 3 AM on Wednesday morning, unfortunately Steve Sandvoss is not watching a music video dreaming of me. (damnit!) Ah well, such is life in the big city and as such does go on. I am not liking my new schedule where I have to work two 3-11 shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday. The main reason is I have to act as the agent for the scurrilous rat in his coercive efforts to extort money from the residents before he absconds with the funds and runs off to Louisiana. However, if I do not cooperate in his little venture, then I am automatically homeless and unemployed. Such decisions one has to make to keep one's roof overhead, even if only temporarily. So the adventure continues as I wait for my partner to return from taking care of his father's burial in Sri Lanka. I will be so very glad when he returns on the 18th.

On to other things. Yahoo! has spurned the evil empire's original offer which is heartening but is only the precursor in a protracted hostile takeover bid in order to keep Google from getting a bigger piece of the Internet pie than it has already. If the evil empire succeeds in its quest, then I will have to change my longstanding email address to another server as I can in no way allow said empire access to my communications nor do I wish to support them in any way I do not have to. This would also mean moving my business website to an alternate venue as I am not about to pay Gates and company rent on even such a small thing as a website. I would much rather Yahoo! and Google combine to fight against the evil empire in the Internet wars.

On the political front Senators McCain and Obama were the clear cut victors in the primaries held yesterday and Senator Obama has pulled ahead of Senator Clinton in the delegate race. Governor Fuckabee (darn, I just can't seem to spell his name correctly!) did well in some ultra conservative locations but thankfully he is not a really serious threat to beat out Senator McCain who would be bad enough if he gets elected (another 4 years of Bushism anyone?) In many past elections I have voted on the Republican side of the ticket as for many years the Democrats had no viable candidates. However in the past few elections the Radical Right takeover of the Party of Lincoln has destroyed whatever attraction it once held for me. I still have not decided who to back on the Democratic side. I will be getting some exposure to both sides there as Senators Obama and Clinton are targeting Texas leading up to our March 4 primary. The ads started today and there is a debate in Austin next week between the two. The next couple of weeks should prove interesting and nauseatingly overdone at the same time.

On a brighter note, tomorrow is the international celebration of love known as Valentine's Day. Is anyone tired of seeing commercials for diamond jewelry for straight couples yet? If I hear "every kiss begins with Kay" (a local jeweler) again I think I will just puke. I am a romantic, but I have yet to see two guys or two girls kissing each other in any of their commercials or Hallmark's for that matter. None the less your intrepid blog buddy is working on a special post in celebration of the day with a definite homosexual slant to it, would you expect anything less for your Uncle Gerry? So come again tomorrow for some romance of the heavenly gay variety.

It is now past 3 AM and I really must head off to dreamland to rest up for another evening of coercion and adventure behind the desk for the scurrilous rat. I leave you with some eye candy to distract you from your duties at work or inspire your "handiwork" at home. Until next time as always, Enjoy!

It is not easy being trapped. hang in there. As someone wise once said "This too shall pass." The 18th is not far away.

Yes, sick of Zales commercials, considering buying a diamond heart pendant for the cat, I see them so much. lol
