An Interesting Morning

It has been an interesting morning. S R and I had our little talk this morning about the particulars of the position in Shreveport. I also had a talk last night with the Desk Supervisor here about the company and the property in Shreveport that S R is going to manage. All in all it seem to be an advantageous proposition so I went to my cubbyhole more settled about the decision but was still in the mulling over process. About and hour after I went to bed, S R called and asked me to come speak with the big boss who runs the Howard Johnson's in Little Rock, AR. I got up, put my clothes on and went to see the big boss who I met while subbing for S R during the meeting yesterday. It seems that S R gave Taj (the big boss) his highest recommendation saying I was the best of the Desk personnel here. Taj and I borrowed S R's office and sat down to talk. He offered me the Night Auditor position in Little Rock at more money than I would be getting in Shreveport and the room would also be complimentary. He also guaranteed a raise every six months. The Ho Jo in Little Rock is an atrium hotel with 204 rooms, the amenities include indoor pool, fitness center and mini golf, a nightclub and restaurant with wireless Internet throughout the property which is located just off the interstate. The move to AR would also be covered and Taj said he personally would drive me up there. He also said I could take some vacation time to settle in before starting to work. This solves a number of the challenges with which I was faced, the biggest one being having to trust S R for my livelihood and well being. The money is better, the hotel is nicer with more amenities, and Little Rock would present itself as a new adventure as I have never lived there. All in all a pretty good alternative to my other options. I have accepted the position and will be moving next week to begin my new adventure. This will mean a slight interruption in posting while I physically transfer locations but I promise to update you all as soon as I can get my computer set up in the new locale. I did come out to Taj so there is not a problem in that regard either.

The only kink in the plan is I must find a new home for Miss Thing as Taj says normally they do not allow pets on the property. That is only a small kink as I acquired Miss Thing as a adult cat about 8 months ago from a resident who could not take her where she was going. I am sure I will be able to find her a new home, she is spayed, de-clawed and very mellow in personality. The cost of living in Little Rock is less than in Big D also, so I should actually be able to get ahead and maybe even save some money as the only expenses I will have are food and entertainment. I cannot see a downside to this move, it seems to solve all the challenges and does not present any in return. I like Taj from what I have seen of him. He seems to be friendly, personable, efficient business wise, and he certainly made me a better offer than S R.

This will also simplify my life as I will only be working one job not two, my shift will be the same all the time so my body clock can re acclimate itself to a single schedule and my commute will be down the hallway indoors out of the weather. Now all I have to do is settle some affairs here in Dallas, pack my belongings and move on to my new adventure. Right now though I think I will take a nap before starting to pack. I have some great photos for your viewing pleasure and I will catch you guys tomorrow. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
