There have been many times of late when I have been mired in a functionally depressed state of mind. I know I am not the only homo in the world who struggles with depression although at times I still have a tendency to think I am the most miserable person around. I get moody and bitchy, have the seemingly the world's biggest pity parties and isolate myself from the world at large. It never fails to amaze me during these times of depression that someone always commits a random act of kindness to chase the blues away and touch my heart in a most extraordinary way. There have been several of these events in recent days which has once again given evidence of the inherent goodness in the hearts of mankind. The best part about these random acts of kindness is the spirit in which they are unselfishly committed with no expectation of reward. Many times we ourselves commit these random acts unknowingly in the course of living our lives. One never knows how ones words or actions might affect the lives of others or when the manifestations that result will surface and return to us in a karmic repayment of the unexpected kind.
When I started Nichevo, I was a neophyte in the art of publishing and a total stumble bum when it came to understanding how to use html. In the course of my education while publishing Nichevo, I have acquired a great deal of technical knowledge. More importantly I have met and been befriended by a great many wonderful people of whom I would never have become acquainted were it not for this blog. Through the wonderful world of the Internet, my life has been positively affected beyond my wildest expectations, many times by random acts of kindness committed by persons unaware they were doing so. Whether here at Nichevo with a comment or email or by the discovery of a new or older blog that inspired a change for the better of some aspect of my life. I in turn have unknowingly thus affected other lives in the simple living of my own while recording my thoughts here. Like the pebble in the ocean, you never know when and where the ripple caused by our words or actions will reach another shore or how these words or actions will affect another.
Just last evening as I was preparing to get off line and go to bed, I decided to check my email where I discovered another random act of kindness hidden in a comment upon my last post. A kind and gentle soul left the following comment "Hi: I realize I'm off-topic with this posting of yours, but I referenced your site in my latest entry, and "stole" a little bit from one of your archived entries. I hope you don't mind. I just wanted to let you know! Cheers and Peace". I checked out the profile of the blogger who left the comment which led me to the discovery of another blog I had never visited "Evydense". I have since added Evydense to my reads and links and you can read his post Gratitude, Self Respect, Self Pity and Simple Kindness in which he referenced Nichevo. I am grateful for his kind words especially in the context of his post. His words touched my heart and inspired this post. I had unknowingly affected his life with my writings and he definitely affected mine in the most positive way with his. Please stop by Evydense and pass some love and peace along to Rick. And please continue to bless the world with your random acts of kindness in the living of your lives with dignity and respect to all. I will be forever grateful for those that have been showered upon me and will pass them along as best I can whenever each opportunity to do so arises.
By the way, you guys set a new record yesterday when 866 of you stopped by to visit Uncle Gerry here at Nichevo for which I wish to say "Thank You" and "Y'all Come Back". With all that being said, I will close with the traditional eye candy section as what would a post here at Nichevo be without one. Until next time as always, Enjoy!

that was a lovely post.
At the risk of this possibly turning into a mutual admiration society, I want to acknowledge this blog of yours. It blows me away that it was inspired by what I wrote, but you're right....you just never know what effects will be felt, where and when. Your kind and generous words about me are somewhat of an exaggeration I think, but they are deeply appreciated anyway.
You have helped me through some "tight" spots without even knowing it, along with some of my other "online buddies". Like you, I feel like I've joined a hyperspace family of sorts. The key, I've discovered, is to ASK FOR HELP when you need it. I find that that is next to impossible to do...a generational thing I'm sure....sorta like your "pity parties"!
I am indebted to you, your blog, your writings, your thoughts and, of course, your eye-candy! I just keep wondering where you find such incredible pictures!
I'm glad we finally got to "speak" to each other. I admire your openness in ways you can't even begin to imagine. Thank you for that.
With 9-hundred and some readers, I fully understand if you don't find the time to chat a bit. I think I get about 6 visitors a day! But please know that every day you publish, it reaches and touches someone somewhere. And, in my books anyway, that's what it's all about.
Cheers and Peace
Rick
