Is This Still Sunday?

My Sunday has run all the way into Tuesday non stop. I was so busy what with the interview being published and the resultant email, IM, phone traffic and end of the month moving biz and having to work the hotel last night too, I barely had time to eat and did not get to lay my head down at all. Last night was rough too as the fire alarm system was malfunctioning and kept going off, noisy and a pain in the ass. This also meant the boss was hanging around half the night being his usual persnickety condescending self. God sometimes I wonder how he has made it this far in life without someone taking a post shot at him. Any way, I am now off work and trying to get this post done this morning for you guys so I can finally hit the pillow for a few hours before I have to get busy on the phone again with the EOM stuff for the company. I need about 52 hours in a day seems like lately, but better busy than bored so I guess I should not bitch.

I did not watch the idiot lie to the people last night so I won't comment on that today, but I did find a couple of interesting things to tell you about. I saw this excellent piece by Daniel Johnson at U C Irvine Ask About Don't Ask. Daniel is a junior film and media /literary journalism double major and his article outlines his views on the necessity of repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy. It is a well written article and the concluding paragraph is the best part:

  • Regardless of who wins the 2008 election, it is necessary for “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to be changed, if not completely overhauled. After all, supplying a group of repressed homosexuals with the best weaponry money can buy and then giving them a reason to be disgruntled is a far cry from establishing peace in the Middle East.
I could not have said it better myself. Those of you who have been reading me for a while know that this is a subject near and dear to my heart. It is possibly one of the most inane policies ever put in place among many inane military policies that are inexplicable in their logic. The one who first said military intelligence is an oxymoron hit that nail on the head.

I also ran across something from GenQ down under about the alternative rock band Faker whose lead singer Nathan Hudson just came out. His statement to the press was “My association with being gay was that it was bad and dark and not good for you. I had trouble finding people to look up to,” he said. “I’m happy to talk about being gay for that kid in the suburbs who’s 15 and scared." Way to go Nathan! You can check out the band's music on their My Space. I was surprised that I really liked their music, they have good beats and crisp vocals and they aren't bad looking either.

Like I said, this is still Sunday as I have not been to bed so I think I will head there shortly. I will leave you with todays eye candy and catch you here tomorrow. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
