In Memorium

Heathcliff Andrew Ledger
April 4,1979 - January 22, 2008

I was greatly saddened yesterday by the news of the death of one of my favorite actors, Heath Ledger, who was pronounced dead in his New York apartment at 3:38 PM. The cause of death was not immediately known although there were prescription sleep aids found near the body. An autopsy to determine his cause of death will be performed today by the New York City ME office. I first came to know him as the noble hearted peasant who becomes a knight in "A Knight's Tale" and I continued to follow his career in several other roles. I cried when he was killed in his role as Mel Gipson's son in "The Patriot". In 2005 Heath and Jake Gyllenhaal made every Gay boy in America happy in the critically acclaimed Ang Lee instant classic "Brokeback Mountain" with his Oscar nominated performance as the stoic Ennis Del Mar. The scene at the end where he holds Jack's shirt and cries always makes me tear up. He had just finished his latest role as The Joker in the upcoming sequel to "Batman Begins" called "The Dark Knight". Heat is survived by the love of his life, his daughter Matilda Rose with fellow actor Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek, Brokeback Mountain). It is sad to see one so talented die so young. Heath will be greatly missed by many around the world and I will always have a special spot in my heart for him.
