The last two days have been a blur of activity that has left me precious little time to blog so I am now trying to catch up on things. The first blog I check every day is Boys Are Ugly and I was dismayed at what I read in his current post. It seems that Ryan and Corey went out for breakfast and when Corey went to the Men's Room some asshole attacked Corey and left him laying on the floor where Ryan found him. Now Corey is 125 pounds soaking wet and sweet as pie, so I cannot see where he would be a threat to the redneck biker type that attacked him in broad daylight. It is being investigated as a hate crime, which is a good thing, but why do these kind of senseless acts of violence have to happen in this day in time? What really got to me other than the fact that someone would do this at all was this comment left by a Phelps cult member " Corey, Got what he got for being the way he is. Sad the guy missed you Ryan. Karen | 10.03.07 - 5:21 pm ". I know we have freedom of religion in America, but I have yet to hear anything remotely of value ever coming out of the mouths of anyone in that cult of haters. How can someone be happy about the fact that a sweet guy like Corey get the shit beat out of him in broad daylight? Is it any wonder that people of faith are abandoning the religious institutions of this and other countries as they become more and more outlandish in their actions and prejudices? The Creator I grew up with espoused love and acceptance of all people, and I see precious little of that in today's religious organizations. My best wishes to Corey for a speedy recovery and I pray that one day Jesus will smack Karen up side the head (figuratively) when he cast her down into hell saying "I never knew you".
As long as we are talking about smacking someone up side the head, here is an article by one of those people that don't exist in Iran. I'm Here, President Ahmadinejad is written by a 25 year old Iranian who is (surprise Mr President) Gay. Of course the name is fictitious as publication of his real name would get him killed as he is one of the new breed of Gays in Iran, an activist working to secure their civil right to exist as people . Then there is this video from VoteVets taking on Rush Limbaugh and his statement about "phony troops":
and here is this video that takes a slap at Emperor George and his disappearing coalition of countries who have troops on the ground in Iraq:
Then there is this thoughtful analysis of the differences in the way the right wing nuts handled the sex scandals of David Vitter and Larry Craig. Rod McCollum writes in his Advocate column Rod and Real: A Tale of Two Cities exposing the hypocrisy so prevalently found in the Bushies and the Fundies.
It is October and GLBT history month, so if you missed the videos in the sidebar or want more information about the GLBT pioneer profiled the last couple of days, here are the links to the individual videos and biographies for October 1, 2 and 3.
That about wraps it up for today, so I will leave you with eye candy from a local boy, photographer Jeff Brewster from Dallas who has been featured in many places notably Beautiful Blog, one of my daily reads. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
