Songs, Sermons, Sexploits And A Little Football

During my morning web surf, I read Kendall's latest post over at The Way I See It and in his inspiration section he played a video by Sam Harris singing Over The Rainbow. I love that song and Sam did a great rendition, however I was unfamiliar with him as an artist (where have I been for the last 20 years) so I went looking for other videos and information about him. I found quite a lot, he is an actor, comedian, singer, author and activist who lives in Los Angeles with his partner of 12 years. So I thought I would present two videos I found especially relevant to me, the first is a salute to the troops serving in Iraq with Sam's song "Get Here" playing over the pictures of some of the 4000 troops that have died there thanks to Emperor George and the second is Sam's rendition of the Simon and Garfunkel classic "Bridge Over Troubled Water".

I read also an article in the Jackson Sun by Norris Burke who is both a civilian hospital chaplain and an Air Force Guard chaplain entitled "Are you more interested in walking in love or judging?". The article was about a series of sermons by the pastor of Sacramento's Impact Community Church
"Confessions of a Repentant Church: Guilt by Association." Read the article and perhaps you will feel as I do that I wish more churches had the same outlook as this one.

Another interesting read in Wayne Besen's latest column at 365Gay.com "Looking For Love On The Sly" with his insights on the recent sexploits of the "Family Values" crowd. I thought it was a hoot as it discussed all the recent forays into adventure by conservative anti gay stalwarts in the public eye especially the closing line "anti-gay crusades have probably lead more closeted married men to bathroom glory holes than to the glory of God." Go on over and read it for yourself.

Today's eye candy section features the men from the Gay Super Bowl 7 Aussie Bum Fire Island Fashion Show. The fashion show was raising money for the GSB7 event coming October 3-7 in New York. The photos come to you via OutSports.com. GSB7 proceeds will benefit two worthy causes, the Ali Forman Center which is a shelter for LGBT youth in New York and The Carson B Palmer PFLAG Esero Tuaolo Scholarship for Athletic Achievement. If you are planning to be in New York in October, plan on attending GSB7 and help support these worthy causes. Until next time as always, Enjoy!
