I have caught someone's Summer cold and I want to give it back! I woke up yesterday sick as a dog and I could not for the life of me accomplish anything in the morning. So I called my associate and forwarded the sales leads to her so I could just go back to bed. I got up around 3 and was still feeling like s*** so I wanted to do something to make may self feel better. I decided to go to Blockbuster to trade in my movie and stop by the geek shop to get another stick of memory to increase the capacity of my computer. Getting the movie was easy and buying the memory was painless. The misadventure started when I got home. I wanted to install the memory before the Forum on Logo so that I would have a better streaming experience. I should have left things alone, I would have been much better off.
I got the computer popped open and the old memory stick removed with no problem. I inserted the new higher capacity stick and left the lid open to make sure everything went OK when I booted up. I pushed the power button and Poof!! up came a small cloud of smoke and suddenly my motherboard was fried. I do not know how such a simple thing could have blown up in my face but it did. So here it was an hour before the Forum and me with no computer and no post done. I was in a panic, but fortunately I have a good neighbor, Indian Joe, who works on PC's in his spare time. He had a carcass with a faster processor than the one I had been using so we got together and gutted my PC then proceeded to build the new (to me) computer. Both my hard drives, my high speed dual layer DVD burner, my Sprint card and my FAX modem all inserted into the new machine fairly easily. I did connect the IDE cable for the had drives in reverse of what it should have been so it did not boot up telling me it had no NTLDR installed. So we reversed the cable and got the new machine booted up. I had to reinstall the printer and the PCI card with my extra USB hubs but that did not take too long. Finally I was back up and on line but the Forum was over, I was tired, hungry, sick and out of sorts so I just took my sleepy medicine and went to bed.
I awoke a few hours later and got on line and started watching the replays of the Forum and reading the write ups about it. It seems to have come off OK with the top 3 doing fairly well, but breaking no new ground. There was one tremendous gaff by Governor Richardson who made the mistake of calling homosexuality a choice (wrong answer!!!!) which probably sunk his ship as far as our communities are concerned. The two candidates most solidly in our corner, Gravel and Kucinich have no real chance at getting elected, however refreshing it is to hear a politician take a definitive stance instead of beating around the bush to avoid saying the wrong thing or promising too much. It was a historical moment in that for the first time political leaders came to listen to our concerns and issues. The Democratic candidates may be leery of our communities but at least they are not afraid to sit down and talk with us. The Republicans are so scared of us that they will not even come to the table to talk. That is why they are into so much suppression of our lives and the secrets in their own lives. I walways think of Shakespeare's golden line when it comes to the hate mongers in the right wingnut party "Methinks he doth protest too much"! And they do.
The Blog This feature in Picasa2 is still not working for me so rather than go through the tedious process of uploading photos in small groups with blogger, I just gathered some photos into a temporary file, uploaded them to a web album and created a slide show for today. Today's slide show features OUT.com's Hot Guy of the Day selections for the last couple of months. So until next time as always, Enjoy!!
