Football, Prevaricators & Video Makers

There is quite a bit of NFL news today. You could not ask for a better scenario for the Cowboys as both the Giant's and Eagles lost, the Eagles big time to Indy and the Giants blew a 21 point lead in the final 10 minutes and lost to Tennessee 24-21. The Falcons also lost to the Saints, sorry Ryan, I know you went to the game and I was rooting for you, but alas it was not to be. So now the Cowboys are alone in first place and can widen the gap by beating the Giants next week in New York. In other NFL news, I found this article on Page 2 on ESPN.com by David Fleming about the annual T.O.Y. (Turkey of the Year) award nominees, which is an interesting read. In the article there is also a mention of the U.T.O.Y. (un-TOY) nominee Adalius Thomas, pictured at left. I quote from the article "I went with Adalius Tuesday to hand out turkeys to needy families at a shelter just a few punts from M&T Bank Stadium. Now, I've been to enough of these things with athletes to tell who cares and who's watching the clock. Thomas showed up early, stayed late (wrote a check to the shelter out of his own money, which he thinks I didn't see) and, with his sense of humor, personality and warm, joyfull nature, gave these people something more important than a turkey: He gave them a smile and a ray of hope. Then he spent the entire drive home talking about how humbled he was by the scene." It is really great to see that there are still athletes that are kind, generous and humble! We need more like him and we need to recognize their efforts for those less fortunate than themselves although Adalius probably would not want the spotlight for it, unlike someone who shall remain nameless but whose initials are Totally Obnoxious!

On the religion and scandal front, here is a reprint from Ex-Gay Watch on Dobson and Haggard.

"Dobson on Haggard" from "Ex-Gay Watch"

Dobson on Haggard

In yet another edition of the story that won't go away, the Rocky Mountain News brings us James Dobson's musings on the Ted Haggard scandal. Demonstrating the irresistable drive among the ex-gay industry to redefine words, Dobson has has decided that hypocrisy has a new definition.

James Dobson said Wednesday that disgraced evangelical Ted Haggard was not a hypocrite for preaching against homosexuality while engaging in "sexual immorality" with a gay escort, but was a man "at war with himself."

[snip]

It was not hypocrisy. It was a struggle between behavior and a belief system."

No. What it was, doctor, was a man doing in secret what he preached against in public. You need a new dictionary; the one you have seems to have the definitions scribbled over.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when we deign to deceive. Is it any wonder then that people today are leaving the churches because the message they receive there is confusing and deceptive at best and a downright lie at worst? Thankfully they don't seem to know the same God I do! I could rant on and on but I think you get the message here. Suffice it to say these people bear close scrutiny. Posted by Picasa

I spent some time cruising around You Tube trying to find a video for you guys to watch but I could not find one that fit my romantic mood, so I decided to try my hand at making my own with Windows Movie Maker. As I have thousands of images and days worth of music, I reckoned that I might be able to come up with something pretty good. I don't have4 a web cam so that option was not open to me, maybe I should add that to my wish list. Anyway, it took me a while to create as I was watching Philly get there ass handed to them by the Colts. But I think it came out pretty good. It is almost finished saving to my hard drive so that I can then post it here. I may have to upload it to You Tube first. This is my first attempt so I do not know if I can post it directly here or not. It is a little lengthy at about 15 minutes, so make sure you have some time clear before you start it as it will take a little while to watch the whole thing. The images are from Uncle Gerry's Archives with music by Beethoven, Il Divo, and Josh Groban. The video is too long for You Tube, however I also have Pando software that I discovered through Queer Click which he uses to show his videos. What the program does is creat the HTML for a button. Displayed is a download now button. This will allow you to download the Pando software and the video which will play in your media player. It will also play directly in FF2 for those of you who use the same browser as I, you can install FF2 by clicking the FF2 button at the bottom of the sidebar. The video will expire for download 14 days after it is last downloaded. The Pando button is posted below right above the eye candy. I hope you like it, post a comment and let me know. I will leave you now, so until next time, as always, Enjoy!
