Football, Politics, and Techie Things.

This just in, the Indianapolis Colts are no longer undefeated thanks to a stellar performance by the Dallas Cowboys defense and a near perfect performance by Tony Romo to win 21-14 today in Peyton Manning's first ever appearance at Texas Stadium. This marks a turning point in the Cowboys season as it is the first time this season they have won back to back games and sets up an excellent opportunity to vie for the division title in the NFC East. The Cowboys have 4 of the last 6 games at home and the rest of the division is ailing, especially Philly with the loss of Donavon McNabb for the season with a torn ACL. This could be a very rewarding season, we will just have to wait and see!

In other news, on Friday the Paris based International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) launched a world wide campaign for a United Nations resolution declaring homosexuality should not be considered a crime in any nation. The campaign is endorsed by world leaders like Desmond Tutu of South Africa, Elfriede Jelinek of Austria, and Michel Rocard of France. Numerous celebrities are on board also such as Meryl Streep, Edward Norton, David Bowie, Lilly Tomlin, Bruce Vilanch, Salmon Rushdie, and Edmund White. You can read an interview with IDAHO founder Louis-George Tin in the Advocate here, visit the IDAHO website, read the statement by the president of Israel supporting IDAHO day, held annually on May 17 here, and also watch an interesting little video by the IGLA on homophobia here. This is an organization and an effort that all of us need to endorse and support. The sooner we are no longer outlaws, the sooner we can attain equality in all nations of the world. This is definitely worthy of all of us.

I spent some time today, while I was updating my computer and adding some software to it. One thing I added was Google World which allows you to view satellite imagery all around the globe. I homed in and actually got a picture of my apartment from outer space. It is pretty amazing what you can see from a satellite. You can pick this up from Google.com. I also added Picasa2 which is a photo manipulation suite that I will be experimenting with in the coming weeks. Picasa2 exports to a program named Hello that works in concert with blogger to upload images for your blog. I will be interesting to see how much I can do with my rather large image database so that I can bring it to you. Picasa2 can be added with your Google Pack and Hello can be added from Picasa. Picasa automatically imports any image saved to your computer.

The user interface also allows you to export directly to Blogger or a Web Album. The pictures today labeled with the Picasa logo were imported from there as I am experimenting as I write this. I know you guys come for the photography as well as the articles, so I am having some fun at this today.

These are just a few that I am experimenting with today and as I get better at this I am sure that you will enjoy what I discover that I can do with this program. I will include some more photographs for you to enjoy while I go play with Picasa2 to see what all I can do. Until next time, as always, Enjoy!
