The Adventures of "Porno Pete"

Peter LaBarbera, American anti-Gay Activist and founder of the totally misnamed 'Americans for Truth About Homosexuality' (AFTAH), has been in the news since last Friday due to his latest 'Homo-Hate Tour'.  LaBarbera got his nick name, 'Porno Pete', because despite his continuous and voluminous rants about the evils of homosexuality, he spends an inordinate amount of time visiting Gay festivals and pride events at which he takes numerous photographs of half naked men.  He says it is all in the name of documenting the depravity of homosexuals, however, one has to wonder what he does with all those photographs once he gets them home.  He publishes a few of them on the AFTAH website while denouncing the 'depravity' represented by the photographs.  What does he doe with the rest of them, hmmm?

His latest excursion on the Homo-Hate Tour took him to Canada where on Friday he was detained at the Regina International Airport in Saskatchewan.  Ostensibly, his purpose for going to Canada was to speak at a Pro-Life Association convention in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.  LaBarbera was denied entry into Canada by customs officials at Regina International Airport, arguing that his appearance at the event could violate Canadian laws on hate speech and "willful incitement of hatred". He was detained for questioning by officials regarding his stance on homosexuality, his organization's ideologies, his purposes for attending the event, and his luggage and electronic devices were also inspected by officials.  After an appeal to the Canadian Border Services Agency, he was allowed to enter the country.

On Monday, LaBarbera along with Anti-Abortion Activist Bill Whatcott were denied permission to set a display and pass out Anti-Gay and Anti-Abortion literature on the campus of the University of Regina.  LaBarbera who admits he was denied permission to be on campus ignored the denial of permission and set up the display anyway.   He and Whatcott set up a display with graphic depictions on the posters and were trying to pass out Anti-Gay and Anti-Abortion materials when they were asked to leave the campus by the local police which they refused to do.  They were both charged with mischief, and held in custody overnight. Both LaBarbera and Whatcott were released the following day, pending a trial on May 26. They also cancelled a planned appearance at the University of Saskatchewan, with LaBarbera choosing to head home to the United States.

Upon his return to the US yesterday, LaBarbera took to twitter to make his case for being persecuted by homosexuals, totally ignoring the fact that his hate mongering and trespassing is what got him arrested in the first place. Take a look at his tweets:

Its great to be back on USA soil. Even tho our freedoms are under siege by the Left, we are still freer thn most countries, inc Canada #tcot

I'll say this about #Canada: they need a First Amendment, real bad. What a trip... headed home. #LiberalIntolerance #tcot #p2

Spent the night in a #Canadian jail cell b/c I spoke out against abortion and homosexuality--at a public university (U. Regina). #tcot #p2

In his mind, he was doing 'God's Work', in reality it was nothing but a planned photo/video op so he could show homosexual oppression and liberal intolerance. He knew he would be arrested, wanted to be arrested as that would be further material for his litany of persecution and oppression lies. Make no mistake, LaBarbera would not know the truth if it bit him in the ass (most likely when he was being fellated at the Folsom Street Fair, lol) However, you gotta love LaBarbera for this reason, he makes such outrageous claims and denigrates homosexuals so vehemently that most folks dismiss him and his ilk like so much chaff thrown into the wind.  Sooner or later voices like his will be silenced as the fringe lunatics that they are.  The real truth is  that all people are just people who have the freedom to believe as they will or not.  And no amount of hate mongering and persecution conspiracy theories will change that.

Your Musical Moment for today features the Music of Edvard Grieg.  When you think of Grieg, the Peer Gynt suites, most notably 'In the Hall of the Mountain King'.  However I would like to share one of his less famous works with you here today.  Grieg produced only one complete mature string quartet, the String Quartet in g minor, Op. 27 dating from 1878 when he was 35. The historical record indicates that it was a challenge for Grieg, a composer who was perhaps more accustomed to writing in smaller forms such as his celebrated art songs and Romantic piano miniatures. Yet his remains one of the most original and influential string quartets of the late 19th century, approximately contemporaneous with the first important quartets from Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Borodin and Dvořák.  Today's performance was recorded in the 1960's by the Copenhagen String Quartet (Tutter Givskov, violin; Mogens Lydolph, violin; Mogens Bruun, viola; Asger Lund Christiansen, violoncello.)  You may also hear Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor over on my tumblr.

Then to complete your day and get you over the midweek hump, there is a splashy display of sexy studs on display below the video in this week's edition of Wet Wednesday.  There is also your Hottie of the Day! over on my tumblr.  Thanks for stopping in, see you again tomorrow.  Until next time as always, Enjoy!
