Tilting At Windmills & A Rose For Ryan!

Posted by Picasa
For those of you old enough to remember classic Broadway and movie musicals the title to today's post refers to The Man of La Mancha which is the story of Don Quixote in musical format and the movie poster always had a picture of Don Quixote holding a lance gazing at a windmill. This was to imply the futility of our efforts in fighting for lost causes. It is a rather romanticized fable whose moral, to me, is to not give up the fight. Being the hopeless romantic with (I hope) some wit, I can see myself as Don Quixote trying to spear the windmill on my lance. I the fearless homosexual trying to hoist the religious right on its own petard so to speak. In this vein there is an excellent article at Ex Gay Watch written by Autumn Sandeen on the furor the Focus on the Family types are whirling around AMC's new trans gender character Zarf. Ms Sandeen is herself transgendered and so speaks from been there, done that, got the T-shirt. You can read her article here. I absolutely feel the transgendered are the bravest people in our community for the simple fact that they face ever so much more discrimination than the average gay person, even among we ourselves as gays. Read the article and support all our brothers and sisters no matter what our gender identity or orientation.

As long as we are tilting at windmills, I have upload to Pando, a video of Jon Stewart skewering Bill Bennett on the issue of Gay Marriage. The clip is hilarious in the way Jon makes this conservative pundit out to be the idiot that he is, however, Mr Bennett does in the end admit that the conservatives have lost the fight on Gay Marriage, it is just a matter of time. The Pando button is below and also at the bottom of the page.

You Tube has finally finished whatever it was doing and I could finally access my account and upload videos. I created a channel where you can watch some of all of my videos and all of my favorites created by others. I created a video with another soundtrack by Guns N Roses called November Rain which is presented here for your enjoyment as well as creating a Pando button if you would like to download it to your hard drive, the Pando button is at the bottom of the page.

Long hard day & a beautiful night!

Why is it when I am in a fucked up place in my head, you, my dear readers, stop by and lift me out of the doldrums into a fresh breeze? I am just fuckin' lucky, I guess, for once again when I needed it most, someone comes around the corner and offers love freely asking nothing in return. As you regulars know, I have been having some tough times financially, having just returned to employment. Well, this company I have been contracting for, one for whom I have done work before, has me doing this petition drive in BFE and so I have been leaving home around 8:30 am and not getting home to 8-9 pm. Hence the short posts the last couple of days. And then when they came to pick me up tonight, my supervisor informed me that I was not getting paid tonight, my check would be 'available' on Friday. This would not ordinarily be a problem except that it has been 2 months since I have had a check, I am out of $$, out of cigs, and out of fuckin' patience. Thank you Jesus that I have food stamps or I would be hungry too!

So now we are headed back to my place, ordinarily a1.5 hour drive and the cold front just came through dropping temps 30 degrees and adding rain to the misery. There was just one small challenge to this (maybe 2) as the passenger window had been struck by malfeasance by another contractor and would not roll up. We then proceeded to get stuck in a traffic jam for 20 minutes and of course the open window was facing the wind driven rain and I got soaked from head to foot. We then finally got on the freeway and I became a Gerrycicle (cold water + cold wind + cold thoughts of mayhem and destruction).

And of course he could not take me straight home, he had to go by UPS/DFW Airport to overnight a food permit ap to Corscicana for an event this weekend. So it just seemed everything to day was designed to give me a hard time. When I did get home Gal Pal was asleep in my bed with the front door locked. I had left her my key but is was not under the mat as promised and I had to wake the dead in order for her to come to the door.

When I get in the door, i set about cleaning the place as it was not trashed but it wasn't gerry clean either. I then sat down to check the email and there were some beautiful letters from an assortment of countries giving love to me freely and without reservation. It warmed my heart and softened me up a bit when I then paged over to The Way I See it... and he, too, had a hard day at work, and he had listed his 10 questions along with my answers, followed by a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Silent Night by ENYA. How do you guys know when and how to touch my heart with your love? I don't know, but I accept it in the spirit in which it was given. I love you guys!! Keep on coming back!! Remember to vote in the banner contest for Nichevo's headliner, you can see you choices here, and don't forget to light a candle for world Aids day in the sidebar.

I have been trying to upload video to You Tube, but it seems that they are experiencing 'adjustments' and can't be bothered with the small fry who want to upload video and bring it here, that is why the video this morning was in windows media player in stead of You Tube! I will try to upload again when google quits fuckin' with it.

I also posted a Pando button for the long version and this version on the end cap at the bottom of this page. Now dear readers please vote in the banner contest so I can in turn, give you what you want.
